Ann graduated from Monticello High School in Jefferson Co., FL and on 9 June 1926 from the Florida State College for Women in Tallahassee, FL. She was named for her grandmothers. An Internet correspondent mentioned in 2002 a book, "Scruggs/Piper Connections," compiled by Jane Melonie Scruggs-Piper, published 1992 - but we have not seen a copy. The 20 June 1910 census of Aucilla, Fl shows "Annie" (age 4) in her parents' family. Note that Jefferson Co., FL Deed Book NNN, pp. 431-433 recorded 16 September 1952 an indenture from William Scruggs and wife Eulee conveying 787 acres of the Scruggs farm with the provision that "The families with relations now buried in the Scruggs Cemetery shall have a direct easement for travel, conveniently located, to continue the use and keep in repair, said cemetery."

Earl John & his wife had one child: 1. Thomas Stewart ([1329/31]-Dunbarton Castle 1361). He succeeded his father in 1331 as Earl of Angus. Lord of Abernethy. He died of plague. - m (Papal dispensation 3 Jun 1353) as her first husband, Margaret de St Clair, [daughter/sister] of Sir William de St Clair [Sinclair] of Rosslyn & his wife Isabel of Strathearn . She married secondly Sir John Sinclair of Herdmanstoun."
