Find A Grave Memorial 100092512 offers: "Samuel Long, son of George and Maria Catherine (Long) Beaver, was born March 2, 1831, died January, 1910. He was born in an old log house on the farm he owned at time of his death, and which is known far and wide as the Beaver homestead. When he was fifteen years old he helped to carry the brick for the house which supplanted the old log house. He was educated in the common schools of the county, which were held for only three months of the year, and his attendance was curtailed by his having to leave before the session was finished to work on the farm. He remained at home until he was twenty-one when he was engaged as salesman in the store of his brother-in-law, at Millersburg, Dauphin county, Pennsylvania. After his marriage he lived on the home farm for three years, and then bought one hundred fertile acres in Perry Valley, which he cultivated for twelve years, bringing it to a high state of productiveness. He was a Republican and held the political offices of county auditor and school director. He was connected with the Methodist Episcopal church, but at the time of his death was a member of the United Brethren church. He contributed generously to the cause of religion and benevolence throughout his lifetime. After the death of his wife he moved to Millerstown and there lived the remainder of his life, retired. During the civil war he was drafted for service, but after a medical examination at Carlisle, Pennsylvania, was rejected. He was one of the most highly respected citizens of his town, county and state, and was universally regretted at his death. [11323] Rupert, Prince (1619-82), third son of Frederick V, elector Palastine (1596-1632), and nephew of King Charles I of England, born in Prague. After a year and a half at the English court, he fought (1637-38) against the imperialists during the Thirty Years' War. In 1648 he commanded the portion of the English Fleet that remained loyal to the king during the wars of the English Revolution, but in 1650 he was defeated by the parliamentary admiral Robert Blake. After ten years in exile, Rupert returned to England at the time of the Restoration. In 1670 he became one of the founders of the Hudson's Bay Company, and part of the Canadian territory was named Rupert's Land in his honor. In 1673 he sailed against the Dutch as an admiral of the English Fleet. Rupert also conducted scientific experiments and pursued the art of ezzotinting, at which he distinguished himself.

Ancestry.com states Zeiders is really the surname Seider which means: "South German . . . occupational name for a silk merchant, from an agent derivative of German Seide silk, Middle High German side.
