(Hight) Ritzman, Allyn married Otta Marie Rygh on December 4, 1948, in Lee. Al was a 1942 DeKalb High School graduate and was a veteran of the US Army, having served during World War II. After his military service, he owned McCann's Mobil Station in DeKalb for more than 30 years. He was a member of First Lutheran Church in DeKalb and was an avid photographer. Al was a steam engine train buff and a fan of the St. Louis Cardinals. He loved to fish, bowl and play cards. He is survived by his wife, Otta; children, Linda (Louise Moore) Ritzman of Crestwood, Roger (Barb) Ritzman of Wheaton, Carol (Jon) Victor of Wheeling, Nancy (Mike "Ike") Wayman of Cherry Valley, Diane (Allen) Bark of Hinckley and Susan (Chris Wolfert) Sokolowski of Rochelle; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister, Marilyn (Bill) Kelly of Henderson, Nevada; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters. The memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 27, at First Lutheran Church, 324 North Third Street, DeKalb, with the Rev. Dr. Janet Hunt officiating and full military honors by American Legion, AmVets and VFW. Cremation is by Anderson Funeral Home Crematory. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the church. Burial of cremated remains will be at a later date at Fairview Park Cemetery, DeKalb."
