He was born March 31, 1909 at Beals the son of Capt. Guy H. and Susie O. (Beal) Carver. He is survived by his wife, Louise (Coffin) Carver; one son, Richard Coffin Carver, both of Beals; one daughter, Mrs. Clark (Bettina) Whitney of Soldotna. Alaska; one brother, Guy H. Carver of Beals; two sisters, Mrs. Harold (Sylvia) Carver Alley of Beals and Mrs. Mina Carver Kent of Beals; six grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Carver graduated from Beals High School and attended Washington State Normal School at Machias. He served for three years in the U. S. Coast Guard during World War II. He was prominent in fishing circles as a herring seiner and in the transportation field, operating lobster smacks, and was the originator of transportation of lobster by truck as it is known today in this area. He owned and operated the Carver Shellfish Co. at Beals and at the time of his death was president of Carver Industries of Beals. He was a member of Jonesport Masonic Lodge 188, Anah Temple Shrine, Bangor, and of the Rogers-Worcester Post, American Legion, Jonesport. He attended the Beals Wesleyan Church." Oscar is son of Guy Herrick Carver Sr. (1886-1968) & Susie Olive Beal (1889-1964; m. 1 August 1906 in ME).
