[9629] "The Perry County Times [New Bloomfield, Pennsylvania], 17 October 1935," p. 8: "Mrs. Sarah Ellen Adair, aged 79 years, 1 month and 14 days, died at her home in Landisburg, last Thursday night. She had been a helpless invalid about two years and in ill health a number of years before. She was a daughter of George and Elizabeth Briner Kiner and was born in Tyrone township, near Center. She was married at the home of her parents, the home where she died, to Mr. James K. Adair, March 13, 1879, by the Rev. R. McPherson, of the Presbyterian Church, of which she was a member. Mr. Adair died October 23, 1925. The deceased was a gratudate of the New Bloomfield Academy and was a teacher in the public schools of the county for some years. Mrs. Adair and her family moved home to her father after her mother's death some years, ago and where they lived at the time of Mr. Adair's death. Surviving her are five children: Marshall, Harriet and Hugh, at home; Edwin, of Parksburg, and Helen, Mrs. Willis Mumper, of Duncannon. Two grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Emma Arnold, of Coatesville, also survive. Funeral services were held at the residence Monday at 2 p. m., Rev. W. H. Dyer, Landisburg, officiating, and burial was in the Center cemetery. The pallbearers were the three sons, the son-in-law and H. M. Rice and A. L. Dum."
