Gallaway, 77, of Battle Creek, died Friday, March 29, 1996, in Battle Creek Health System after a nine-month illness. He was born March 22, 1919, in Branch County to James A and Etta E. (Monn) Gallaway and moved to the area in 1938 from Ray, Glenn R. Gallaway Ind. He was employed by Kraft General Foods as a supervisor for 30 years, retiring in 1979. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II with the 99th Infantry Division. He married Margaret L Taylor in 1943 in Summit, Miss. She survives. Also surviving are a son, Kenneth R. Gallaway of Battle Creek; daughters, Mary Jane Gallaway and Joanne Hayes of Battle Creek and Kathleen D. Lefler of Livonia; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and sisters, Pauline Whitmore of Battle Creek and Evelyn Reppert of Quincy. Preceding him in death were four brothers and four sisters. Community involvement, hobbies: Member of Sonoma United Methodist Church, Post 25-Year Club and American Legion Post 1 56 in Montgomery. Enjoyed gardening, yard work, fishing and hunting."
