[5867] Sir John was heir of his parents and married by 1329 Isabella de Cherleton. "Sir John served in the Scottish war, 1333, in the retinue of Ralph Basset of Drayton. He was a knight in 1338; he was summoned to Parliament in 1342. He was in the king's service in 1347, and was then called `Lord of Duddeleye.' In 1350 he was sent with a relieving force from England to St. Jean de Angely; he was here summoned to advise the king as to the safety of the kingdom. In 1352 he was one of the commissioners appointed to array archers in Staffordshire. In 1359 John de Sutton, chevalier, was in the retinue of William de Bohum, Earl of Northampton, and died in France...." In addition to his heir, John, he had Thomas de Sutton who served in 1369 in France in the army of the Black Prince. - "The Dudley Genealogies," by James Henry Mason (1987), p. 15. [40904] Find A Grave Memorial 45666738 offers: "Jonathan S Dorr, Jr, son of Ensign Jonathan S Dorr, Sr and Eunice (Downs) Dorr, married Judith Norad 'Nora' Worcester, daughter of Reverend Moses Worcester, Jr and Hannah (Leighton) Worcester, about 1810 in Columbia, Washington, Maine. Together Jonathan and Nora had 14 children. Nora died in 1869 and on 14 Mar 1874 Jonathan married, in Columbia Falls, Washington, Maine, Mary Gowell Merritt. Mary had been married three times before and was widowed in each marriage (Ezra Jordan Parker (1798-1822, Richard Tabbutt (1806-1831), and Ebenezer 'Eben' Tabbutt (1808-1873). She died in about 1880 in Columbia. Jonathan's memorial gravestone is inscribed that he died 25 Jul 1892, at 92 years of age. His documentations state he was born on 18 Apr 1791, and he and Judith's first child was born 1812, so this is probably accurate. But, the inscribed death date would make him 101 years at his death. Family records state he actually died 22 Jul 1883, and that date would make him 92 at death."
