This volume states he was a Sgt. in MA during the War for Independence and came to Steuben from Kennebunk in 1756-57 and r. there as a farmer and shipbuilder., and that Samuel is a great-grandson of John Wakefield (d. 1674) who emigrated from England to Saco, York Co., ME by 1661.
