[61959] "The Ellsworth American [Ellsworth, Maine]," 21 April 2026: "On Saturday, 18 April, George E. Dunn of Beech Hill Pond moved suddenly and decisively from earth to heaven. Donna, his wife of nearly 70 years, was by his side, along with his six children, Linda, Tricia, Tommy, Jimmy, George II and Billy, as well as a sizable number of his eleven grandchildren. Born on the 6th of April in 1933 to Marion Young (Dunn) and Butler Dunn, George was the middle child, following Henry (Howard) Dunn and followed by younger brother, Richard Dunn. George grew up in Ellsworth, was known as someone who could 'fix anything' and get himself out of messes. After graduating from Ellsworth High School in 1951, he soon after joined the Air Force, which took him to Spokane, Washington. While he thoroughly enjoyed working as an engine mechanic, primarily on the mighty B-36 Peacemaker, his true accomplishment during that time was meeting the love of his life, Donna Lee Hoagland. They quickly started a family and eventually moved back to Maine to raise their six children. As a dad and uncle, Georges sense of fun and adventure, and generally good humor, meant lots of lake activities, snowmobiling and dirt bikes, hunting and fishing, and at times, trying new things on a wing and a prayer."
