[44010] The unverified Whitcomb/Wells Family Tree in Ancestry.com in 2018 offers: When John Henry Beagle was born in July 1841 in White Creek, New York, his father, James, was 25 and his mother, Edith, was 24. He married Eleanor Peters in 1857. They had seven children in 18 years. He died in 1918 in Shaftsbury, Vermont, at the age of 77, and was buried in South Shaftsbury, Vermont. This may be the same person or a brother: "The Bennington Evening Banner [Bennington, Vermont], 27 September 1918," p. 1: "James Henry Beagle, aged 77 years, died at his home in South Shaftsbury Wednesday afternoon. He had been in poor health for :ome time but confined to tho bed for only a few days. Mr. Beagle spent the greater share of his life in South Shaftsbury and was one of the town's highly respected citizens. Surviving beside the widow are one daughter, Mrs. M. C. Whitcomb of Springfield, and three sons, Fred of North Bennington. James of Springfield, John of South Shaftsbury. The funeral will be held from his late home on Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Rev. Cady will officiate. Interment will be in the South Shaftsbuiy cemetery."
