[12292] Thomas Ferrers, Esq., second son, m. Elizabeth Freville, daughter of Sir Baldwin Freville of Tamworth Castle, Warwickshire - for ancestry see "Ancestral Roots...," Frederick L. Weis (Baltimore: Genealogical Publishing Co., 1992 - 7th Edition), line 216. See also "Plantagenet Ancestry of Seventeenth-Century Colonists," David Faris (English Ancestry Series, Vol. 1, 2nd edition; Boston: NEHGS, 1999), p. 88. Find A Grave Memorial 71636833 proposes that Thomas d. in Tamworth, Staffordshire, England and offers: "1st Lord of Tamworth by marriage. He made Tamworth the seat of an important branch of the Ferrers of Groby. It had a covert role as a "safe house" of sorts for the preeminent Catholic families of England during the Tudor era-- and yet the heirs of Lord Tamworth developed a strongarm organization to enforce the laws of the Crown in Staffordshire, and clean up problems that had only naturally existed in the environs of such a formidable castle. Better roads were to make enforcement by the central government easier by the 16th century, and of course cannon made obsolete the notion of an impregnable fortress-- caretakers under the Ferrers stewardship understood this, and since they led double lives (as Catholics) they understood and preserved the arts of playing both sides, a way of life during the Dynastic Wars, but lost to memory as new generations of royalty grew more and more comfortable in their power."

[30149] A pdf file in jorandby.net/genealog offers: "Ole G Slora, age 35, and his new wife Juliana, age 30, were listed as #534 and 535 on page 14 of the passenger manifest of the German steamer Salier, which sailed from Bremen and arrived in Baltimore in July 1882. Of the 541 immigrants in steerage, 453 were from Germany, 54 from Austria, 22 from Norway, 10 from Sweden, and 2 from Switzerland. [Ole reported many different birthdates during his life; 1851 occurs most often, so he was probably actually 31 when he emigrated in 1882] . . . Ole and Janna spent their first years as American immigrants in Minnesota, where their first two children were born, then moved to Chicago about 1887. When Ole's mother and his brother and sisters immigrated in 1886, they named Minnesota as their US destination, presumably to join Ole and his family. After travelling from Boston to the Midwest, Anna, Martin, Margrete, and Hannah Slora may have halted in Chicago on their way to Minnesota, or they could have gone on to Minnesota, then relocated to Chicago when Ole did."
