She was a life long member of Grace United Church of Christ. A member of Elva Chapter No. 304, Order of the Eastern Star, and Modern Woodmen of America. She was graduate of Central High, and Hammel Business College, and formerly worked for Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company. The widow of J. Howard Hoffmeyer. She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Loren (Ruth) Florell, of Danville, Va.; sister, Mrs. Curtis (Edea) Cavileer, of Akron; eight grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren; sons-in-law, William O. Sassaman, of Akron, Loren Florell, of Danville, Va.; and daughter-in-law, Mrs. Kenneth (Jane) Hoffmeyer, of Claremont, Calif."

He was born Aug. 31, 1931, in Bar Harbor, the son of Stuart and Sylvia (Gray) McGarr. In his younger years, Bud enjoyed square dancing with the Bells and Buoys Club. He had been an avid gardener and liked to travel. Bud worked at The Jackson Laboratory for 36 years as an equipment operator prior to his retirement. Bud found his greatest pleasure in life was his grandchildren, and they found him to be a wonderful grandfather. He is survived by his son, Jack McGarr and wife, Stacey; a daughter, Darlene McGarr, all of Bar Harbor; five grandchildren, Nicole McGarr and partner, Ben Hamor, of Northeast Harbor, Max McGarr of New York, N.Y., Hannah and Eliza McGarr and Shawn Sullivan, all of Bar Harbor; four great-grandchildren, Marina McGarr, with whom he had a very special relationship, Elli and Mariah Hamor, and Aliyah McGarr. He was predeceased by his wife, Barbara (Leach) McGarr, in 2011; a stepson, Dennis Sullivan; and a grandson, Dennis Sullivan Jr." He served in the U. S. Marine Corps.
