[5449] On 12 May 1937, Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon, daughter of the Earl of Strathmore, was crowned queen alongside her husband King George VI. Elizabeth, who is the mother of the current queen and became popularly known as the Queen Mother, was brought up at Glamis Castle in Forfar. World War Two broke out two years after her coronation and Hitler called the queen 'the most dangerous woman in Europe' because of her popularity with the British public. Elizabeth reigned as queen until the death of her husband in 1952.

"The Bangor Daily News [Bangor, Maine]," 11 February 2014: "Bucksport - Todd E. Gifford, 54, passed away unexpectedly Monday, Feb. 3, 2014. He was born Feb. 1, 1960, in Bangor, to Edward and Anna (Gross) Gifford.
Todd graduated from Bucksport High School in 1977. He worked as a chef at the Bucksport Jed Prouty Tavern for a few years, then he began working in the construction field. He took great pride in his work and landed a job with Cianbro. He was employed with Cianbro for several years as a successful iron worker/welder. In 1993, Todd was severely burned in a house fire and fought for his life. He had to overcome many obstacles from his injuries and he was determined to rebuild his life, get back to his career and rebuild his home, which is exactly what he did. His home in Bucksport was his pride and joy. Once his new home was completed, he had family gatherings every Sunday. His cooking and hospitality was amazing to all who attended. Todd loved cooking, carpentry, hunting, ice fishing, and spending time outdoors. He also had a love for animals, especially his golden retriever dogs Duke and Daisy. Most of all, Todd loved his family, his children, and grandchildren. He was predeceased by his grandparents, Alton and Belva Gross, and Nye and Georgia Gifford; his father, Edward Gifford; and stepfather, Dean Scott. He is survived by his children; a daughter, Jessica (Gifford) Gray and husband, Nate 'Bump' Gray, of Bucksport; son, Todd Jason Gifford and wife, Cassandra (Allen) Gifford, of Bangor; his mother, Anna (Gross) Scott of Bucksport; brother, Mark Gifford; and sister, Louanne (Gifford) Littlefield. He was 'PA' to five wonderful grandchildren, Tyson and Kaylee Gray of Bucksport, Ayzlynn, Daxton, and Ryker Gifford of Bangor. He is greatly loved and will be missed by all his family and friends. He is gone from our sight but will live on in our hearts forever."

History - Samuel Kirkpatrick was born January 8, 1767, in Newton Township, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania. His father was James Kirkpatrick and his mother was Martha McElhenny, the second wife of James Kirkpatrick.
Samuel became an orphan after the death of his father in 1778, and he asked the courts to reappoint a guardian other than his mother, Martha Kirkpatrick, who wanted to indenture him at that time. The courts allowed James McKee of Lurgan Township to be his guardian until young Samuel reached his majority.
The Big Spring Presbyterian Church organized in 1737 was the church where the Kirkpatrick, McElhenny, and Weir families all worshiped. On April 5, 1791, Samuel was united in marriage to Ruth Weir in Middle Spring, Pennsylvania. Records from the Middle Spring Presbyterian Church indicate the service was held at another location other than the church. Speculation is that the service may have been held in the home of Ruth's Father, Abraham Weir of Lurgan Township, Franklin County, Pennsylvania. (Will Book B for 1816, Case 3944.)
Samuel and family along with Samuel's brother, Benjamin and his family all migrated and settled on farmland north of Chillicothe, Ohio around 1798. Samuel at his death on November 11, 1826, owned farms and lots in and near Chillicothe, Ross County, Ohio.
The record office in Chillicothe, Ross County, Ohio, VMS Survey Book, page 80, "We find Samuel and Benjamin Kirkpatrick chain carriers in a survey for Duncan McArthur." The survey for 300 acres of land, part of military warrant number 4993 on the waters of Deer Creek in the year 1803, was a survey number 4109. Samuel and Benjamin and all their families may have been living on this land at the time and intended to buy it.
Samuel and Ruth Weir Kirkpatrick were the parents of eight children: James, Abraham, George Washington, Jane, Ruth (Patsy), Samuel, Benjamin, and Polly.
Samuel and Ruth Kirkpatrick are resting alongside one another on the Kirkpatrick family farm in Ross County, Ohio. The graves of Ruth and Samuel are unmarked.
