The Mader Family Tree on 29 Jun 2011 offered in Ancestry.com: "The Sheesley Family emigrant ancestor was a native of Germany. He settled in Jefferson township, Dauphin County on 2000 acres that he divided into 5 farms for his children.
"Abraham Sheesley, son of the emigrant ancestor, was born September 30, 1786, in Jefferson township, and learned the carpenter's trade, which he followed all his life, leaving the management of his farm to his son. As each of his sons came of age or married he presented him with a farm. Abraham Sheesley was a man of extrodinary intelligence and was respected by all who knew him. In politics, he was an old-line Whig. For more than 60 years he was a local minister of the United Brethern church. He built the Bowerman Church which was intended to be used by the United Brethern, but those of that faith being outnumbered in the community by the Lutherans, the edifice was dedicated to the Lutheran Church.
"Abraham Sheesley married, in 1807, Miss Lenkerd, born in 1791, in Lykens Valley, and they were the parents of 15 children: Leah, deceased, married John Bowman and was the mother of a family. George, David of Jefferson Township. Jonathan of Susquehanna township. Catharine wife of Joseph Winrich (John Joseph Wenrich). Michael of Jefferson Township. Sarah wife of John Harper. Mary, wife of George matchet. Susanna, wife of John Enterline. Elizabeth, wife of Christian Etumore. Abraham, deceased, late of Harrisburg. Lydia, deceased, wife of william Hoover. Jacob died young. Two who died in infancy. Abraham Sheesley, the father of this numerous family, died October 1, 1871, and the death of his widow occured September 29, 1873.
