[26246] Find A Grave memorial 38365568 offers: "George Spear married to Mary Heath about 1643 in MA. Mary Health was described as "a woman of noble and helpful character." George's landlord, Captain William Tyng died in 1661. Tyng's estate was divided on 28 Mar 1661. The will provided George with a continued driftway across which to drive his cattle. Children were: Mary Spear, Sarah Spear, Samuel Spear, Ebenezer Spear, Hannah Spear, Samuel Spear, Nathaniel Spear, Hannah Spear. Mary, 3rd known child of William Heath by his 2nd wife, was baptized at Nazeing 2 September 1627. She married by 1644 George Spear (called "Mary Spere" in her father's will; child bp. 21 April 1644." "The Times-Tribune [Scranton, PA], 14 November 2002," p. 22: "Walter A. Rayannic, Lake Winola, died Tuesday evening in Berwick Hospital. His wife of 44 years is the former Corinne Pontarollo. Born April 8, 1923, in Peckville, he was a 1944 graduate of Meshoppen High School and an Army Air Corps veteran of World War H, obtaining the rank of sergeant. He was the owner of the Lake View Market, Lake Winola, and a member of the Lake Winola Lions Club and Cottagers Association and the Tunkhannock Moose Lodge. Surviving are a brother, Michael, Tunkhannock; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Walter S. Rayannic; several brothers and sisters. The funeral will be Friday with services at 10 a.m. in the Sheldon-Kukuchka Funeral Home Inc., 73 W. Tioga St., Tunkhannock, by the Rev. Duanne Gavitt, pastor, Church of the Nativity BVM, Tunkhannock. Interment will be at the convenience of the family in Fairview Cemetery, Lake Winola."
Walter graduated in 1944 from Meshoppen High School. He served in the Army Air Force during World War II and became a Sergeant.
[13941] He and his family are in the April, 1910 federal census in Upper Mahantango Twp., Schuylkill Co., PA which lists him as a house carpenter. "Lyens Register [Lykens, PA], 9 Januar 1969," p. 4: "John S. Reed, 88, of Klingerstown RD, died Friday at the home of his daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Wiest. He had been in failing health for several years. Mr. Reed was a retired farmer and carpenter and a member of the Salem Lutheran Church, Klingerstown RD 1. He was also a member of the Gratz Fire Co. His wife, Vertie Geist Reed, died in 1959. Surviving are the following children: Flossie, wife of Harry Reiner, Dornsife RD; Clair Reed, Carlisle RD 2; Irene, wife of Clarence Weist, Klingerstown RD; Helen, wife of Charles Bamer, and Lila, wife of Leon Geist, both of Pitman; Violet, wife of Lear Troutman, Penbrook; Mrs. Margaret Enders, Millersburg; Ethel, wife of Robert Kahler of Spring Glen; 25 grandchildren; 55 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Also surviving is a brother, James A. Reed of Klingerstown. Funeral services were held on Tuesday afternoon from Salem Lutheran Church, Klingerstown RD. Burial in the adjoining cemetery."

[3044] Johann Albrecht emigrated from Wurtemberg, Germany, according to family tradition, and arrived on the Ship Mary from London at Philadelphia 26 Sept 1732 with his brother John Philip Strauss (b. 13 Sept 1713). Albrecht and John settled adjacent farms about a mile and a half north of Bernville where Albrecht was a founding member of Friedens Lutheran Church. "Eighteenth Century Emigrants from German-Speaking Lands to North America: The Northern Kraichgau," Annette Kunselman Burgert (Breinigsville, PA: PA Germany Society, 1983), p. 361reports his family and states that "Albright Straus" of Bern Twp., Berks Co. was naturalized 24 Sept 1755. The "Return and Assessment of the County of Berks, for the year 1784" (PA Archives, Ser. 3, Vol. 27, p. 579, shows "Albrecht Strouss, Sen'r" with 150 acres, 2 horses, 2 cattle and 2 sheep; also listed is "Albrecht Strouss, Jun'r" with 140 acres, 2 horses and 4 cattle, and "Jacob Strouss" with 10 acres.
