He married Jane Melvina on June 23, 1883, in Bates County, Missouri. They had 10 children in 20 years. He died on January 26, 1917, in Sixteen, Montana, at the age of 56, and was buried in Livingston, Montana . . . Jane Melvina Stacey was born on August 15, 1866, in Kansas . . . . She died on January 25, 1905, in Schell City, Missouri, at the age of 38, and was buried there." "The Butte Miner [Butte, Montana], 28 January 1917", p. 13: "Three Forks. Jan. 27 - John Stacey of Sixteen died at the home of Earl White Friday evening. Mr. Stacey was employed at the White ranch, where he had worked for some time. He was well liked and had many friends in that community. Mr. Stacey was born in Illinois, June 22, I860. He came to this state a number of years ago and has lived the greater part of his life in Montana. He is survived by three daughters In this state, Mrs. Walter White of Livingston, Mrs Tusco Heath of Ringling and Mrs. Herbert White of Sixteen. Two sons and a daughter reside in Shell City, Mo."
