[54030] "Bangor Daily News [Bangor, Maine]," 5 September 2021: "Holden - Alan L. Cunningham, Sr., 82, passed away peacefully at a local health care facility after a brief illness on September 4, 2021. He was born in Belfast on May 1, 1939, the son of Alfred and Geraldine (Gurney) Cunningham. Upon graduation, he entered the Air Force and served in the Air National Guard - 101st Air Refueling Wing. He retired as a Chief Master Sargent in 1993, after working there for 36 years. Al had many passions including operating ham radios, flying airplanes, snowmobiling and building and repairing computers. He became interested in ham radios as a teenager, making contacts and friends around the world. That passion continued throughout his entire adult life. His ham radio friends knew him as 'N1AC'. He was a member of the Civil Air Patrol and flew the pipeline patrol. Despite his many physical challenges, Al was resilient and always optimistic, often offering words of encouragement to his loved ones. To his grandchildren, he was the kindest, most patient 'Papa' they knew. He was loved by many and will be dearly missed. In addition to his parents, Al was predeceased by his son, Alan Jr.; and a brother, Gary. He is survived by his devoted wife, Beatrice, of Holden; his daughter, Pamela (Cunningham) White and her husband, Michael, of Crittenden, KY; stepson, Kenneth Hutchings of Bangor; six grandchildren, Devon White, Aliyah White, Jasmine Hutchings, Madison Hutchings, Erin Allard, and Cody Allard; and four great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters, Sue Bolduc and her husband, Chris, and Nancy Hall; brothers, Ricky and his wife, Donna, Ron and his wife, Harriette, and Bill and his wife, Nena; and several nieces and nephews."
