[1531] Annointed king by Pope Innocent in 1131, he succeeded his father in 1137. He and Eleanor went on Crusade in 1148, and he reached Jerusalem while she remained in Antioch. Compton's Encyclopedia (America Online, 1995) reports: "Louis VII (born 1120, ruled 1137-80) was the eldest son of Louis VI. Shortly before his death, Louis VI arranged for his son's marriage to Eleanor of Aquitaine. By this marriage southwest France was added to the domains of the new French king. Unfortunately Louis, who was very religious and prone to be jealous, soon discovered that his beautiful queen was a capricious flirt. In 1147 Louis departed for the Holy Land on the Second Crusade, taking his queen with him. This Crusade was a miserable failure (see Crusades). After they returned, Louis had his marriage annulled in 1152. Eleanor at once sent an embassy to Henry, count of Anjou and duke of Normandy, proposing marriage. Henry was overjoyed because the alliance transferred to him the great duchy of Guienne. Two years later Henry and Eleanor were crowned king and queen of England (see Henry, Kings of England, "Henry II"). France thus lost a rich territory to England, its greatest rival." Also see "Richard and John: Kings at War," Frank McLynn (Cambridge, MA: Da Capo Press, 2007). Cf. http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Louis_VII_de_France.

[34151] "The Times-Tribune [Scranton, PA], 21 February 1998," p. 7: "Ann Rayannic Pregrim, Old Forge, died unexpectedly Thursday evening in Mercy Hospital. She was the widow Steve Ace Pregrim, who died Dec. 8, 1993. Born Aug. 7, 1926, in Peckville, daughter of the late Max and Olga Maciejowsky Rayannic, she was raised on the family farm in Meshoppen and attended area schools. Before retiring in 1986, she worked for many years in the housekeeping department of the Old Forge School District. She was a member of St. Michaels Russian Orthodox Church, Old Forge. Every year, she enjoyed planting a garden, especially flowers, and spring was her favorite time of year. During the summer months, she and her husband would go to picnics to listen to polka music and dance. Surviving are a son, Stephen, Old Forge; a daughter, Debra Konnick, Falls; two brothers, Walter, Lake Winola, and Michael, Meshoppen; two grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by four brothers, John, Nicholas, Steven and Marshall; and two sisters, Pauline and Mary Tomaskevitch. The funeral will be Monday at 8.45 a.m. from the Semian Funeral Home, 704 Union St., Taylor, with services at 9:30 a.m. in St. Michaels Russian Orthodox Church, 512 Summer St., Old Forge, to be celebrated by the Rev. David Mahaffey, pastor. Interment, parish cemetery."
Peter is subject of an article by Shirley Kitner Mainello in "The Perry Historians, Vol. 36, No.1," p. 2:
Peter was born in Waldenburg, Switzerland on April 10, 1742 and arrived in America as a child aboard the Ship Ann to Philadelphia on September 29, 1749. He was accompanied by his fahter, Daniel, a sister, Ursula, who was younger than Peter, and his older brother, also Daniel, who was 19 years old. Also, his Uncle Jacob and Jacob's wife and children accompanies Daniel.
His father, Daniel Schaublin, and Uncle Jacob emigrated secretly as is written in a report of the Obervogt read in Council on May 14, 1749 in which it states that the two brothers emigrated secretly along with Jacob Tschopp, a saddler. Tschopp left his wife and children behind, however the Schaublins took their children with them.
The desperate circumstances of Switzerland and its neighboring lands had people charging around the country looking for food and work. The times were very difficult due to long years of war and destruction. When peace was finally restored in 1748 hundreds of people were starving and homeless.
Peter's father Daniel Schaublin was married to Margreth Spithaler (Spitler) who apparently died before he left Switzerland.
Upon reaching America, being penniless, he became a redemptioner. The man who paid for Peter and his father and siblings was Ernst Sigmund Seydel, an Oley farmer. Actually, his farm was just of the edge of what is now Exeter Township.
At one point, the older brother Daniel, tried to lure young Peter away with him. The following notice appeared in the German speaking newspaper:
"Sept. 1, 1750: Ernst Sigmund Seydel, Oley, Berks County, gives notice that last year he became security for the payment of passage costs of a Swiss named Daniel Schaeubeli, and eventually he had to pay these costs. Two small children of the Schaeubeli were indentured. Schaeubeli had another son, 19 years old, who has coaxed away his younger brother from Seydel's service pretending he was going to raise money necessary to free the lad. He has collected three times the amount required and has bought a fiddle and a cow with the money." - p. 21, Sowers Newspaper
Daniel, the father, later married Christina Tschumi who came from his hometown in Switzerland. The lived in Berkeley Co., West Virginia.
Peter grew up and married Elizabeth Heins in 1771 in Berks County, PA. Together they had Frederick, Mary Magdalene, Solomon, Abraham, John Daniel, and John. Elizabeth may have died as a result of childbirth. Her last child was born in 1783 and she died the same year.
In 1785, Peter married Christina Lynn, the daughter of Nicolas Lynn who was also an immigrant. They are on the tax lists of Berks County until 1789.
Peter and Christina apparently sold the Berks County holdings and moved to Tyrone Township, Perry County, PA in 1799. (At that time Perry County was still a part of Cumberland County.)
The tax records of Cumberland County show that some of his sons from his first wife were married by 1799 and accompanied their father, mother, and siblings settling near Green Park.
Peter and Christina had twelve more children: Catherine, Susanna, Elizabeth (who died at age 14), John George, John Peter, Bernhard, Mary, Jacob, William, Sarah, Elizabeth, and David.
Peter was a Revolutionary War soldier and is listed in the DAR Patriot Index with the names of both wives. He died and is buried in Perry County, PA in Lebanon Lutheran Reformed Church Cemetery in Loysville, PA.
