[31234] Find A Grave memorial 112096531 offers: "'About the year 1820, Francis Leech, Daniel Coffman, Reuben Clempson, John Bowers, Philip Bowers and John VanHorn came to Jefferson county and settled in what is known as the Bowers Settlement. They came from the Shenandoah Valley, in Virginia, from whence they traveled in wagons, occupying six weeks in their journey to the town of Clearfield [Clearfield County,Pennsylvania]. After their arrival at their destination in Jefferson county, Philip Bowers erected the first cabin, and then sheltered his companions until they had erected a cabin for each family. This first cabin stood near the present residence of Isaac Bowers, while that of Daniel Coffman occupied the site of his son, Samuel's present residence. Philip Bowers died in July, 1866, aged seventy-nine years, and Mrs. Catharine Bowers, his wife, died January of the same year, aged about sixty- eight years.' This biography is seen almost word for word in both the Scott & McKnight books."

[1678] Florent I was Count of Holland and Zealand, and Lord of Friezland in 1026. See http://fmg.ac/Projects/MedLands/HOLLAND.htm http://www.geerts.com/holland/holland-2.htm offers: "Floris, like his predecessors, was hard-fighting and tenacious He gradually recovered possession of his ancestral lands. He found a formidable adversary in the able and warlike, William, who, become bishop of Utrecht in 1054, was determined to recover the lost possessions of his see; and in I058, in alliance with Hanno, archbishop of Cologne, Egbert, margrave of Brandenburg, the bishop of Liege and others, invaded the Frisian territory. At first success attended the invaders and many places fell into their hands, but finally they were surprised and defeated near Dordrecht. The Counts of Guelders and Louvain were among the prisoners that fell into the hands of Floris. The attack was renewed in 1061. In a battle at Nederbemert Floris met with his death in the hour of victory. He is said to have been killed as, wearied with pursuing, he lay asleep under a tree."
