"Telegraph-Forum [Bucyrus, Ohio], 22 May 1939," p. 1: "Carrothers, May 22 - Mrs. Mary Brillhart, 88, oldest resident of this village, died Saturday at 2:30 p. m. after being bedfast for the last 16 months following, a paralytic stroke. Death was due to complications. 'Grandma' Brillhart, as she was familiarly called, was a member of Carrothers Reformed church, the Ladies Aid society and was faithful teacher in the Sunday school for a number of years until her health failed. Mary Brillhart was born in Huron county on June 6, 1850, a daughter of Jacob and Rebecca Bessey. On March 14, 1872 she was united in marriage to Robert Brillhart. To this union was born three sons and three daughters. Her husband and one infant daughter preceded her in death. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Charles Benton and Mrs. Daniel Hager of Carrothers, three sons, Alva Brillhart of Carrothers, Frank Brillhart of near New Washington and Will Brillhart of Bellevue, 15 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 p. m. Tuesday at Carrothers Reformed church her pastor, Rev. L. A. Sigrist officiating. Burial will be made in North Union cemetery west of Carrothers."
