However, Phillips Russell's "Benjamin Franklin - The First Civilized American" (New York: 1926) reports that William Temple Franklin did not reside in America after joining his father in England, and died in Paris in 1823, buried in Pere La Chaise Cemetery. If Russell is correct, this person may not be progenitor of the Franklins who follow. However, Isaacson's book (see under Benjamin Franklin) states that Temple came to America and took over his father's New Jersey property. Howser, for twelve years a resident of this valley, died at 1:30 this morning at his home in Creston. M.r Howser came here from North Dakota and was originally from Wisconsin. He is said to have contracted a cold two weeks ago which settled on his lungs and pneumonia followed. He was 83 years old. The deceased is survived by a wife, two daughters and four sons. The sons are J. B. Howser of Camas, J. C. Howser of Somers and J. A. and F. M. Howser of Creston. Mrs. Metcalf and Miss Margaret Howser are the daughters. The former lives in Lakota, N.D. The funeral will be held from the residence at 11 Monday with Rev. Totten of Kalispell officiating. Interment will be made in Conrad cemetery."
