The Greys of Ruthyn were the chief Marcher barons in the northern region of the Welsh Marches.
Ida married Sir John Cockayne, Chief Baron of the Exchequer by whom she had six children. Through her eldest daughter Elizabeth, she was an ancestress of Anne Boleyn, Jane Seymour, and Catherine Howard, queens consort of King Henry VIII of England.
"Ida was born at Ruthin Castle in Ruthin, Denbighshire, Wales in 1368, the youngest daughter of Reginald Grey, 2nd Baron Grey of Ruthyn and Eleanor Le Strange of Blackmere (1337- 20 April 1396). She had four siblings including Reginald Grey, 3rd Baron Grey de Ruthyn, the implacable enemy of Owen Glendower. It was her brother's land dispute with Glendower which caused the latter to launch his rebellion against King Henry IV of England and take Reginald prisoner, keeping him in confinement until he was ransomed by the king for the sum of 10,000 marks.
"Her paternal grandparents were Sir Roger Grey, 1st Baron Grey de Ruthyn and Elizabeth de Hastings. Her maternal grandparents were John Le Strange, 2nd Baron Strange of Blackmere, and Ankaret Le Botiller, daughter of Sir William Le Botiller and Ela de Herdeburgh. Ankaret was a direct descendant of Welsh Prince Gruffydd II ap Madog, Lord of Dinas Bran and his wife, Emma de Audley."
NEHGR 100:107 reports Ida "m. John Cokayne, d. 22 May 1429" and provides a line of descent to John Stratton (b. 1581) whose widow Anne emigrated to New England with their three surviving children. Also see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ida_de_Grey which reports "Ida's husband Sir John died in 1427 and was succeeded by their eldest son Sir Reginald. Ida died on 1 June 1426 and was buried in St. John's Church, Cockayne Hatley. There are many fine effigies of the Cockayne family which can be seen in the church at Cockayne Hatley."

[1047] This line requires further research. See notes for wife, Julia Ann Archer. Vivian I. (Kenniston) Conner states that places and dates of birth and death are from VR. However, the 1870 census of Santa Cruz, CA lists a Samuel Dunn, age 52, huckster, b. in ME, probably the same man as Samuel Dunn, age 42, listed as a miner in Twp. 3, Tuolumne Co., CA in the 1860 census. NEHGR (Oct. 1937) 91:320 states from the 1850 census that Samuel Dunn, miner, born in ME, and in CA, is age 29. Others named Samuel Dunn are in Hallowell, ME and the Portland, ME area in mid-1880s, but none fits our Samuel (wives are different in the censuses). The LDS Church's IGI file (Batch Number: 5003439, Sheet: 42, Source Call No.: 1553219 - not verified) states that Samuel (son of Samuel Dunn and Dorcas Cobb) was b. 11 Sept 1806 in Machias, ME. See "Early Narraguagus River Families of Washington County, Maine," Darryl B. Lamson and Leonard F. Tibbetts (Rockport, ME: Picton Press, 2002), p. 276 which states his wife, Julia Ann, divorced him "when he wanted to 'go west' and she didn't 184?".

He married Juliana Carpenter on July 23, 1612, in Zuid-Holland, Netherlands. They had [at least] one child during their marriage. He died in June 1624 in Plymouth, Massachusetts, at the age of 38. Juliana Carpenter was born on March 7, 1584. . . . She died on February 19, 1665, in Plymouth, Massachusetts, having lived a long life of 80 years.

She married Thomas Story in 1693, in England, United Kingdom. They were the parents of at least 1 son. She died in 1761, in her hometown, at the age of 87."
[16566] George Walton administered his estate. The Ordinary [inn] known as The Anchor was deeded to Edward 12 July 1665, and inherited by his wife Martha when Edward died. Edward had an acre on Great Island, served on the jury, etc. "Immigrants to America Appearing in English Records," Frank Smith, p. 14, shows Edward and Martha on ship from England in 1676 (matching the baptism of son John in England in March, 1676). Edward was likely a seaman before he became an inn/tavern keeper. Ancestry.com offers: "West Name Meaning - English and German: from Middle English, Middle High German west 'west', hence a topographic name for someone who lived to the west of a settlement, or a regional name for someone who had migrated from further west."
