[8922] News-Journal [Mansfield, OH], 28 February 1982, p. 4: SHELBY - Funeral services for Ralph W. Bly, 82, of 20 E. Whitney Ave., who died Friday afternoon at Cleveland Clinic, will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Dye-Hall Funeral Home by Dr. James Lumadue and the Rev. Donald L. Albert. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. The family requests memorial contributions be made to the First Lutheran Church or Junior Achievement and may be left at the funeral home. Mr. Bly was born in Franklin Township, Richland County, Oct. 28, 1899, and had lived in the Shelby area his entire life. He owned and operated the Bly Auto Supply and Machine Shop for 55 years. He was a charter member of the Shelby Better Business Bureau, a volunteer fireman for 36 years with the Shelby Fire Department and member of the Richland County, Fair Board for 30 years. He also belonged to the First Lutheran Church, Shelby Knights of Pythias, Richland County Genealogical Society, Muzzle Loader Club, Ohio Gun Collectors, Union Grange of Richland County, Steam Thrushers Association and the Macabees and was a life member of the National Rifle Association. Surviving are his wife, Madaline Artz Bly; two daughters, Mrs. Hubert J. (Betty) Vail and Mrs. Ross (Vivian) McKinney, both of Shelby; one brother, James H. of Mansfield; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren."
