Rob was kind and a gentleman and a collector of music, classical and jazz. It was in his music he found comfort and peace during his final months. In addition to his mother, he will be sadly missed by his sister, Donna Ames of Bangor; his beloved niece Christie Ames; and his loyal cat, Oliver."

[2417] There is some confusion over his father's name, but it appears that Vanbertus is grandson of Albero, Duke of the Moselle. There is some doubt as to Vanbertus being father of Gertrudis, too - the whole line seems fuzzy to me - AEM, 2/89. Cf. http://home.wxs.nl/~voort359/home3alsac.html. which states "Ansbertus was possibly a Gallo-Roman Senator in the Narbonne region in the far south of France. Domonoske continues (p. 27): "William Presley came to Northumberland Co., VA in 1636 and settled on the margin of Cod's Creek near the seat of Northumberland House where Presleys and Thorntons long resided. In 1649 William Presley transported his wife, Jane and her sister, Hannah Newman and his two sons WIlliam and Peter. He made his will Aug. 15, 1650. Proved prior to Jan. 20, 1651. Thornton, Jr. ...William Thornton came from Yorkshire, England to Northumberland Co., Va. in 1645 and settled at Cod's Creek near Northumberland House.
