[59356] Douglas' obituary: "Bucksport - Douglas Arthur Gross, a loving husband, father, and grandfather (Bobo) passed away peacefully in his home Tuesday April 1st, 2025. Doug was a hardworking man who loved his family endlessly. Doug was a devoted husband to his wife, Margaret for 53 loving years. They spent their life together building the family farm on Bucksmills Road in Bucksport while raising 3 children. If Doug wasnt spending time with family, you would find him in the hay field, mowing hay in the early morning, or in the barn tending to the cattle. Doug awoke a passion in his family for raising and showing cattle all around the state, Blue Hill Fair being a favorite. Once climbing on a tractor was no longer in his cards, you would still find him on the riding lawn mower, stopping for a puff of oxygen on the way by the front door; no one mowed his lawn as well as him. Doug enjoyed snowmobiling around the state with his family for many years, especially trips with Uncle Phil. Doug spent the first part of his career path working for the Bucksport Mill, starting as a laborer and retiring as a consultant. Retirement was not for him, so In 2003 Doug and Margaret started their own commercial cleaning business, GHA, Inc. which they ran together for close to 20 years with the help of family. Doug was a huge part in the business until the day they sold it. He took much pride in his business and the work that it produced. Doug was born in Bangor on February 1st, 1951 to Maynard and Virginia (Pickering) Gross. Doug is survived by his wife Margaret (Toole) Gross of Bucksport, his three children, Michelle Gross and husband Wayne Bergey of Rockland, Mickey Gross and wife Stacie of Bucksport, Melissa Gross of Augusta; his four grandchildren, Bryce Emerson and husband Jonathan of Penobscot, Kylie Farnham of Dresden, Hunter Ellis Gross of Bucksport, and Shelby Gross of Bucksport; nieces, nephews and cousins; and many lifelong friends. Doug was predeceased by his parents; brother Hillard; Uncle Phil; son Luke; and many aunts and uncles."

[3572] The father and grandfather of Berthold II are from W.H.Turton, "The Plantagenet Ancestry" (Balt.:Gen.Pub.Co.,1968),p.30, although in apparent disagreement with the lineage implied by the Encyclopaedia Britannica, 1956 Edition, 3:231-2. Berthold II married Cunigunde_______. http://www.hermetic.com/sabazius/schyren.htm offers: "'Schyren' is actually an historical spelling variant of 'Scheyern' (as are Scheuern, Scheiern and Skyrun). Scheyern is an ancient castle in Bavaria, located near Pfaffenhofen between Munich and Ingolstadt. It was the home of the Counts of Scheyern, who ruled a portion of Bavaria from the time of Charlemagne until 1115...."
[21766] John and Elizabeth are posited as parents for Mahala Snow by Chuck Boydstun (cbab@jps.net) and other researchers. Cf. http://www.angelfire.com/ms/burroweshome/snow.html (which gives a more traditional but probably wrong identification).
