[40111] The unverified Gasbarro Family Tree in Ancestry.com in 2015 offers: "When John Nicholas Hoffman was born on January 10, 1749, in Tulpehocken, Pennsylvania, his father, Johann, was 39 and his mother, Maria, was 29. He married Anna Margaret Harman and they had 17 children together. He then had one son from another relationship. He died on April 28, 1814, in Lykens, Pennsylvania, at the age of 65, and was buried there." Find A Grave memorial 16588318 offers: "John Nicholas Hoffman, a member of the Hoffman family reknowned for the number of it's men who served in the Revolutionary War, was born in Tulpehocken Twp., Berks County. His father, at minimum, had immigrated from Germany through the port of Rotterdam, Holland, and arrived in Philadelphia in 1739. John Nicholas Hoffman lived near Short Mountain, Lykens Vally, PA. He owned a large tract of land and deeded the land for the building of Hoffman's (St. Peter's) Church. During the Revolution, John Nicholas participated in the battles of Long Island, Brandywine and Germantown. He was elevated to the rank of Lt. during the Battle of Long Island. His name is listed on a historical cemetery marker erected by the state of Pennsylvania which is located at the front entrance of the cemetery. His specific gravesite in this cemetery has not yet been identfied due to the age and deterioration of the oldest stones and the fact that many are written in German script."
