[14551] "The Berkshire County Eagle {Pittsfield, MA], 22 September 1881," p. 3: "David B. Whitcomb, who died at Northapton, recently, aged nearly 82 years, was a painter by trade, and had been a man of note in the town for half a century. It is a good deal to say of any man, as can be truly said of Mr. Whitcomb that Northampton never had a more honest workman in any trade."
