He was born March 17, 1951, to Earl and Maxine Dorr. After graduating high school, he joined the Army in 1969. Darryl was a jack of all trades from land clearing, mowing, oil truck driver for R.W. Mathews, school bus driver for West's Bus service, he worked putting honey bees out for Headwater Farms, worked with blueberries for many years, before going to work for Wyman's with Security. He knew the barrens like the back of his hand. He was President of the Milbridge Veteran's Club. He enjoyed hunting and fishing until his health held him back. Darryl is survived by his wife of 45 years, Amara; a son, Billy Houck II and his wife, Amy, of Steuben; a daughter, Tara Small and her fiance, Adin Young, of Cherryfield; grandchildren, Billy Houck III and his wife, Sydney, of Steuben, Brandon Houck and his fiancee, Ashana Russell, of Steuben, Makayla Small, Bennett Young, and Addie Young of Cherryfield; great-grandson, Michael Houck of Steuben; and a great-granddaughter, Tenley Houck of Steuben; as well as many special friends. Darryl was predeceased by his parents, Earl and Maxine Dorr; as well as many other family and friends."
