was the first notable patron of Englands humanists. He became known as the "good Duke Humphrey," but many historians, pointing to his unprincipled and inept political dealings, have questioned the appropriateness of the title. Upon the death of Henry V in 1422, Parliament decreed that Gloucester should serve as acting regent for the infant king Henry VI while the official regent, John, Duke of Bedford, was leading the troops in France. By 1425 Gloucester was embroiled in a bitter power struggle with his uncle, Henry Beaufort, chancellor and chief minister of the realm. This feud continued until, in the mid-1430s, Beaufort gained firm control over the government. On Feb. 18, 1447, Beauforts successor as first minister, William de la Pole, Earl of Suffolk, had Gloucester arrested. Five days later the duke died, probably of natural causes. The popular belief that he had been murdered led to widespread uprisings in 1450.

[60122] Larry's obituary: "Sherman - Larry D. Morgan Sr., 67, died April 22, 2012, at his home with family at his side. He was born March 2, 1945, the second son of Herbert and Mavis (Perry) Morgan. He graduated from Sherman High School in 1963 and received the Best Short Distance Runner Award. He worked for local potato farmers, as a logger with his horse and for Great Northern Paper Mill before serving his country during Vietnam. After returning stateside, he was a drill sergeant, a practice which he continued to use for his lifetime. After returning home he worked primarily as a logger, but also enjoyed carpentry, woodworking, four-wheeling, fishing, hunting, camping and coaching his sons during their Little League seasons. He was often making jokes and was quick to gain attention of family and close friends with his unique whistle. Larry was a member of Sherman Area Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 2299. Larry is survived by his wife of 40 years, Roanne (McNally); their children, Windy Pocock and husband, Jeff, of Sherman, Larry Jr. and girlfriend, Casey Chase, of Dover-Foxcroft, and Dustin Morgan of Sherman; two grandsons, Gabriel Morgan of Roaring Springs, Pa., and Garret Chase of Dover-Foxcroft; brothers, Russell and wife, Sharon Morgan, of Sherman, Michael and wife, Nancy, of Hermon, Marlon Morgan of Randolph, and Scott Morgan of Mapleton; sister, Mellony Morgan of Island Falls; two aunts; many nieces, nephews and cousins, especially nephew, Dylan Glasscock; and special friends, Dennis and Allicca Quirion, Anthony Lord, Ashley Hayes, and Army buddy, James Amos and Kathy, of Stevens, Pa.
