[12051] Merwin was a Seventh-day Adventist minister. In 1995 Josephine was residing in Loma Linda, CA. He is possibly the only Merwin Thurber in the Social Security death index, which reports he was b. 18 Dec 1903 and d. 19 Feb 1991. The 1940 federal census in Tacoma Park, Montgomery Co., MD (a suburb of Washington DC) lists Merwin (age 36, b. in OH) as head of household which includes his wife Josephine (age 35, b. in TN), Merwin's father-in-law George Wells (age 70, b. in OH, a clergyman with the General Conference of the Seventh-day Adventist Church)) and Merwin's sister-in-law Evelyn Wells (age 40, b. in TN, a stenographer), and states Merwin is an editor with a publishing firm (probably that of the Seventh-day Adventist Church which is headquartered in Tacoma Park).
