He apparently had a second wife, named in his obituary - "The Oklahoman, 24 June 2001": Dr. John Henry Brandt, Jr., son of Gladys and John Henry Brandt, Sr., was born on January 6, 1933 in Golconda, Illinois. He graduated from Rosicare Community High School, Rosicare, lllinois. He received a Bachelor's of Arts from Oklahoma City University, a Master's of Teaching from Central Slate University, and a Doctorate of Philosophy from the University of Oklahoma. John was a teacher and longtime elementary principal in Oklahoma City Public Schools and briefly served as an elementary principal in several districts in Missouri. John served in the United States Army in Germany and later was in the Army Reserves, serving as the director and Sergeant Major of the 4155 USAR school in Oklahoma City. John was an active member of Wesley Methodist Church; regional, state and local AARP; and the Lambda Chi Alpha Alumni organization. John was an active member of Siloam Masonic Lodge where he was serving as the Junior Warden at the time of his death. He is survived by his wife, Rebecca; two sons, John H. Brandt and wife, Belinda, and David Christopher Brandt and wife, Valerie; two cherished granddaughters, Stephanie and Megan; a brother, Jack Simmons and his wife, Jane; nephew, Joe and his wife, Pixie and their children, Hannah and Brandon; a niece, Heather Durbin and her husband, Joel; a nephew, Sean Davis and his wife, Misty and their daughter, Alexandria."

Surviving are his wife of 47 years, Charlotte, of Hampden; two sons and daughters-in-law, Bion A. and Becky Foster of Hampden and Randall A. and Nancy Foster of Thomaston; a daughter and son-in-law Brenda and Galen Kingsbury of Winterport; six grandchildren, Andrea and Pamela Foster of Hampden, Adam and Todd Foster of Thomaston, Sara and Gabe Kingsbury of Winterport; one stepgranddaughter, Darci Kingsbury of Bangor; a sister, Bessie Ashley Moore of Orrington; a brother, Harry K. Foster of Hampden. He was predeceased by a brother, Stephen, and a sister, Rosa. George will be sadly missed by his family and many friends."
