Schlegel died at the Patterson hospital in Carnegie Sunday evening, Jan. 13, after an illness of several weeks. Funeral services were held at the Alden Union church Wednesday afternoon by Rev. Ray Hance of Bethany, assisted by Rev. M.H. Chaney of the Spring Valley church, interment being made in the Alden cemetery. Sarah E. Faulk was born in Lancaster county, Pa., March 24, 1859 and died at the age of 75 years, 9 months and 20 days. She was married to Moses B. Schlegel May 26, 1876, who preceded her in death six years. To this union eight children were born, three of whom died in infancy, and one at the age of 14 and one daughter at the age of 48. She is survived by two sons, Harley E. Schlegel and Marshal B. Schlegel, and one daughter, Laura C. Butler, all of Carnegie, and an aged brother, living at Erickson, Pa. There are twelve grandchildren and seven great grandchildren and many other distant relatives. She was united with the Lutheran church at the age of 15, later transferring her membership to the Methodist church. She was also a member of the Royal Neighbor lodge for a number of years. The family moved to Kiowa county, Okla., from Nebraska in 1902, living on their farm south of Carnegie for the past 32 years. Mrs. Schlegel was very well known in and about this vicinity and the respect and appreciation for her was shown by the beautiful floral offerings and large attendance at the services. Obit furnished by Lillian. . . . Family links: Parents: Beneville K Folk (1823 - 1863) & Carmah Hannah Folk Bailey (1828 - 1883)."
