She was a devoted homemaker and was a lifelong member of Blachleyville United Church of Christ. She belonged to the Pleasant Home Garden Club and was active with the Senior Citizens groups of West Salem and New Pittsburg; enjoyed being a member of the Domino Club with her friends at the West Salem Senior Center. She also enjoyed embroidery and quilting. She is survived by a son, Richard William (Lorene) Sargeant of Orrville and two daughters, Donna Mae (William) Foote and Barbara Jean (Randy) James of Wooster; four grandchildren, Rachel Norris, Joshua Sargeant, Amber Tapp and Katherine Foote; seven great-grandchildren, Shandell, Sidnee, Sairra, Jarrett, Macayden, and Branton Tapp who all called her "Cookie Grandma," and Mason Sargeant. In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by two brothers, Calvin and Carl Schmid."
