Source: Pension File, Haverhill & Newbury VR, New Sharon Census records: Samuel Bradley, born 1762 Haverhill, Essex County, MA, enlisted in April 1775 as a Private in Capt. Micajah Gleason's Co., Col. John Nixon's Regt., serving 8 months at Winter Hill in Cambridge. At the end of his enlistment, he was verbally discharged in Dec. of that same year. Marriage intentions for Samuel & Miss Abigail Pike, b. 9 Aug. 1768 in Newbury, were posted in Haverhill 29 Aug. 1790. They afterwards removed to Maine where they resided in New Sharon, farmed, & raised six children ~ Wingate, John, Sally, Annette, Ruth Ann, & Mary Ann. Samuel successfully applied for his veteran's service pension 11 Dec. 1832."
