Johnston, pastor of the First Presbyterian church of Kingsport, officiating. The bride wore a white palm beach suit, with brown and white accessories, and a white orchid corsage. She is a graduate of Dobyns-Bennett High School and is now a junior at the University of Alabama, where she is majoring in radio arts and speech. She is a member of Alpha Chi Omega sorority. The groom was in the Army Air Corps two and one-half years, with seven months of overseas service in the E. T. O. He graduated from Gadsden High School, Gadsden, Ala., and attended Alabama Polytechnic Institute. He is a junior in pre-law at the University of Alabama and is a member of Chi Phi fraternity. The couple will be at home this summer at 221 South 9th Street, Gadsden, and will return to the University of Alabama for the fall quarter."

[30008] "Carlisle Evening Herald, 10 July 1912," p. 1: "Joseph Shughart died at 4 o'clock Tuesday afternoon, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. C .C. Miller, 604 North West street, at the age of 79 years and 10 months. Death was due to heart failure caused by pleurisy. Mr. Shughart was born in Dickinson township, and during the greater part of his life was a farmer. He resided principally in Dickinson and Penn townships, but spent a few years in Frankford. For the past three months he has been a resident of Carlisle. He was a reader of The Herald for more than 60 years. Surviving him are seven children, Mrs. C. C. Miller, Carlisle; George W., of Middlesex; Frank J., of Dickinson; Joseph, of Frankford; Harvey W., of near Carlisle; Elmer, of Frankford, and Wilson, of near Salem Church. The funeral will be held Friday, meeting at his late residence at 9 o'clock. Services will be held in the Frankford Brick Church and internment will be made in the graveyard adjoining."
