She was born in Elma, WA., on February 16, 1922, to parents Simeon Drake and Maybelle Covey. As a young adult she moved to Aberdeen, WA, where she graduated from Weatherwax High School in 1941. After high school she moved to Seattle then returned to Aberdeen and married LeRoy Towle. Their life together took them to South Bend, Winlock, and Aberdeen, eventually settling in Shelton, WA, where they lived for the next 13 years. In 1964, the Towle family moved to Olympia, WA where LeRoy worked for Safeway and Dorothy continued her career as an Avon Representative in the Shelton and Olympia areas. Dorothy was devoted to her husband and children, always participating in their many activities. She enjoyed clam digging, fishing, camping, and picnics at Schafer State Park with her family, sisters, brothers, nieces and nephews. She was an inspiration and role model to many, welcomed everyone into her home, and will be greatly missed by those whose lives she touched. Dorothy was preceded in death by LeRoy, her husband of 68 years; parents, Simeon and Maybelle; step father, Earl Koons; brother, Robert; sisters, Geraldine Grine, and Loretta Valentino. Dorothy is survived by sisters, Delores, Peggy, and Rosemary; and brother, Warren. She is also survived by her sons, Robert Warren (Jan), Ronald LeRoy (Brian); daughter, Linda Marie (Carl) Anderson; 5 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren. Find A Grave memorial 115423350 provides her obituary: "Dorotha V. Hochenshilt, age 98, formerly of Shelby, died Tuesday, August 13, 2013 at The Good Shepherd in Ashland. Dorotha was born May 8, 1915 in Jackson Township, Richland County, Ohio the daughter of the late Bert and Rhea (Hoffman) White. She graduated from Shelby High School in 1933 and married Glenn L. Hochenshilt on March 4, 1944. Dorotha was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Shelby and the Sunshine Club. She was a librarian in Chesterville, a homemaker, and supported her husband's careers of farming, teaching and coaching. Four generations of nieces and nephews have enjoyed the loving kindness of their 'Aunt Dorotha'. She made time for her nieces and nephews with vacations on the farm and playing games. Over the years she gifted them with many crocheted items. She is survived by nieces and nephews: Ann (Doug) Hedrick of Shelby, Eugene (Judy) White of Bellevue, Roger (Joan) White of Montana, Mary (Joe) Platt of Bucyrus, Sue (Jim) Rabold of New Mexico and many great and great great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband, Glenn; a brother and sister-in-law, Wilbur and Helen White; a sister-in-law: Mary Hochenshilt; a sister and brother-in-law: Viola and Herbert Davis; an infant brother; and a niece, Lucille (John) Ocker; other nieces and cousins. Friends and family are welcome on Friday, August 16, 2013 from 1-2 PM at the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby, where funeral services will be held at 2 PM, conducted by Rev.
