Wendell was born on May 6, 1932, the son of Cecil and Geneva Eaton in Little Deer Isle, Maine. He attended Deer Isle schools and served in the Army during the Korean war. After being honorably discharged from the Army, he returned to Maine and later moved to Massachusetts. He worked at Kendall Mills for 40 years, retiring in 1994. For 29 years, he drove bus for Mohawk High School sports and activities and at Stratton Mountain Ski Area. Wendell was married to Janet (Snow) Eaton on December 4, 1954. They moved to Shelburne Falls in 1968, where they spent the remainder of his life. He enjoyed following area high school sports, especially watching his grandchildren play and perform. He was a member of Trinity Church. He also loved spending the summer at his camp on Little Deer Isle, Maine. Any time he could spend with his family was the best time for him. Wendell is survived by his wife, Janet; one son, Mark and his wife, Leisha; one daughter, Laura Earl and husband Mike; six grandchildren, Shannon Hager and husband Todd, LeighAnn Bardwell and husband Justin, Jayson Eaton and wife Cyndi and Alex Eaton and fiance Adam Martin, Matthew and Jacob Earl; six great-grandchildren Julia, Rylee and Avery Hager, Natalie and Bennett Bardwell and Jackson Wendell Eaton. He was predeceased by his brother Lewis in 2004. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and friends who were a constant source of encouragement and support in the final days of his life."

Ephraim was a Loyalist soldier, Upper Canada (Ontario) Judge, politician and businessman - see "Dictionary of Canadian Biography" 15:456-58. Also see http://www.uppercanadahistory.ca/pp/pp3.html. http://my.tbaytel.net/bmartin/kingstn2.htm ('The Parish Register of Kingston Upper Canada 1785-1811' Part 2
") offers: "The Hon. Ephraim Jones, M.L.C., known also as Mr. Commissary Jones, was the ninth son of Col. Elisha Jones (1710-1775), M.L.A., J.P., a Loyalist, and a great-grandson of Lewis Jones (1600?-1684), who migrated from Berkshire, England to Watertown, Mass., in 1620. Ephraim Jones (b. April 27, 1750. d. January 21, 1812) had lived in the Mohawk Valley in the province of New York, and had served in the Seven Years War, apparently, for which he received a pension. He was one of the earliest settlers in Elizabeth Town and one of the earliest merchants in Brockville. He was a J.P., a Member of the Land Board for Grenville and Leeds, of the first Parliament of Upper Canada (1792-6), representing Grenville, and of the Land Claims' Board (1800-1). He was twice married, having issue by the first wife only. H is first wife was Charlotte Coursolles ("obiit 28th September, 1803, Aet. 50"), a daughter of Michel Coursolles (or Coursol?), of Verchères. His second wife was Margaret S. Beek (or on the tombstone "Beke"), who died 'January 9, 1852, aged 84 years,' The most distinguished of his six sons were the Hon. Charles, who married Mary Stuart, q.v., and the Hon. Jonas, who became a Justice and the father, among others, of Mrs. John McCaul, Mrs. John Strachan, Jr, Mr. Clarkson Jones, and the Revd. Professor Jones, of Trinity College...."

[17403] Mark E. Honey, in "The Leaches of Penobscot - Parts II through VI" (Ellsworth, ME: 1996), pp. 11-12: "The William Leach family suffered through all of the tragedies that the 19th century could produce. Two sons were claimed by the sea, swallowed up without a trace, and another son was claimed by the horrors of the Civil War. A fourth son followed the sea and died at the age of 31. Their only dau. also died at an early age, within a few days of her brother, perhaps by the scourge of consumption. She appears not to have married. Capt. Silas Leach was the only child to survive this murderous gauntlet and he succumbed to heart disease at 57 years. Wm. and Bestey outlived five of their six children. Their lives were full of shattered dreams and the eternal longing to hear foot steps that never came. We can only look back and ponder the faith or stoicism that sustained them."
[48258] John is son of James A Lowery (1862-1930) & Eliza Emeline Adams (1863-1932). John's place and date of birth are from his World War I U. S. Army service record card which shows he was inducted 15 July 1918 in Coffee Co., GA and served as MD at the Post Hospital Ft. Hamilton, NY, and then at a General Hospital - he became a Private First Class in September, 1919 and was disharged December 30, 1919. In the 4 April 1940 federal census in Carlisle, Cumberland Co., PA John is a bartender in "Retail Liquor" and his wife is cashier in a department store.
