[49530] "Bangor Daily News [Bangor, Maine], 16 August 2013": "Beals - Elmer Curtis Beal, 85, entered into the joys of his Lord, Aug. 14, 2013 in his home at Blackduck Cove. He was born March 28, 1928, on Beals lsland, the son of Esten L, and Calista (Alley) Beal of Beals. He is survived by his son, John T. Beal; daughter, Joan Marie Beal; granddaughter, Lisa Marie Dow and her fiancé, Philip Kilton: an adopted son, Mario Argentino; sister-in-law, Eleanor Libby, many nieces and nephews, his beloved church family, and lots of very close friends. He loved his family dearly and was always trying to make life easier for them, often working long hours to provide for their needs and give them a good life. He was proud of their accomplishments and instilled some wonderful values in them. He had great wisdom and understanding passing it on to his family and friends, always available whenever anyone needed his help. He gave willingly and freely of his time and resources. Elmer was a faithful member of Beals Wesleyan Church for 53 years, where he served on the church board, taught Sunday School, sang in the choir and often sang duets with his wife, Marion and daughter, Joan as well as other good friends. He often led the Sunday services as well as the weekly prayer meetings. He devoted his life to serving the Lord and was dedicated to his church. He enjoyed the fellowship of his church family and loved them very much. He was a mentor for many new members always encouraging and praising them for their accomplishments. He will be greatly missed in the Beals Wesleyan Church as well as the community. His lifetime career was lobster fishing and he fished for 72 years. He spent two years in U.S. Navy and was stationed on the Franklin D. Roosevelt."

[21366] Parents of Rurik are NOT PROVEN to my satisfaction, but are as given by http://www.genpc.com/gen/files/d0038/f0000001.html#I498 in 2003. http://www.umkc.edu/imc/oldrussia.htm states "862---Rurik and a group of related families arrive in Novgorod and the area becomes the "land of the Rus." These rulers are possibly invading Vikings from Sweden. Their chief business is trade with Byzantium. They drag their boats overland to the headwaters of the Dnieper, congregate in Kiev in June, wait for the spring floods to subside, set sail in huge convoys, and brave a 60-kilometer stretch of rapids and cataracts that is vulnerable to ambush by local tribesmen. From there, the way to the Black Sea is easy." Also see http://www.friesian.com/russia.htm#kiev and http://fmg.ac/Projects/MedLands/RUSSIA,%20Rurik.htm.

[33752] See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Domhnall_mac_Raghnaill which reports: "Domhnall mac Raghnaill was a Hebridean noble in the late 12th- and early 13th-century. He is the eponymous progenitor of Clan Donald (Clann Dhòmhnaill, 'Children of Donald'). For this reason some traditions accumulated around him in the Later Middle Ages and Early Modern period. Despite his role as the historical figurehead of one of the world's most famous kindreds and surnames, there is almost no contemporary evidence yielding certain information about his life. His place in the genealogical tradition of the MacDonalds is the only reason for believing in his existence, a genealogical tradition that not all historians have accepted. Beyond his actual existence, there is little that is certain. Three entries in Irish annals may discuss him, though he is never named; a praise poem surviving from the Early Modern period may be descended from a poem originally written for him; a miracle in a Manx chronicle may or may not have Domhnall as its subject; and a doubtful charter surviving from a similarly late era was allegedly issued by him."

A file in Ancestry.com in 2013 offers: Either John, who farmed the manor of Ramridge 1475 - 1484, or Robert, from 1493 - 1497. It is not certain which of these two men was the father of these children, but an analysis of the evidence indicates that they were siblings.
Thomas (1465 - ????) Weyhill, England -- Thomas Noyes was mentioned with his cousins, the children of his uncle Robert Noyes, in several suits concerning the entail of the manor of Littleton in the parish of Kimpton. In a suit before the Court of Requests, it was recorded that Jone Noyes, widow [of Robert, Sr], Robert Noyes [Jr], Wyll[ia]m Noyes, John Noyes the brother of the said Robert, Nych[o]las Noyes, Thomas Noyes, Emma wife of said Robert, John Noyes son of the said Robert, Jone Noyes and Anne Noyes daughters of the said Robert leased the manor of Lytleton with appurtenances from the Abbot of the Monastery of St. Peters of Gloucester. This transaction took place 4 April 15 Henry VIII [1524] and was for the term of 61 years.
"'Thomas Noyes of Ramridge in the parish of Weyhill was taxed many times in goods 15 Henry VIII [1523/4]. By the year 1552/3 he had conveyed a substantial portion of his estate to his son Robert and grandson John.'
The record goes on to say that Thomas Noyes and all but the children of Robert were of majority. On 16 July 24 Henry VIII [1532], another deed was drawn up leasing the manor to joan Noyes the widow, Robert Noyes, Emme, John Noyes the son, Jone the daughter and Anne Noyes, and Margery, Agnes, Mary, Ede, and Cecely, daughters of Robert and Emme [born since the previous contract], to hold for a period of 70 years so long as they should live.
Nicholas St. John countered that Joan Noyes, widow, and Robert meant to defraud William, John and Nicholas Noyes, the brethren of Robert [1467 - 1524], and Thomas Noyes (cousin). Nicholas Seyntjohn had purchased the rights from various parties to the first lease. Nicholas Noyes granted their interest to him at Remrygge [Ramridge], Hampshire. It was after purchasing those rights that Nicholas Seyntjohn attempted to enter the manor forcibly. The suit in question was apparently dated 22 June 6 Edward VI [1552].
Robert Annetts, of Vyfylde [Fifield], Hants, husbandman, aged 52, deposed that he knew Robet Noyes, father of Robert Noyes, who had taken a lease of the manor of Lytylton long before the above mentioned leases. He leased the manor as Robert Noyes the father, with Jone his wife, Willm Noyes, John Noyes, Nicholas Noyes (children) Robarte Noyes now complainant and to Thomas Noyes cousin of Robarte Noyes the father. This deposition proves the relationship of Thomas Noyes to the others.
Robert (1467 - bef April 1524) -- age 57
