[59311] Craig's obituary: "Craig Laurence Archer, 74, of Stetson, passed into Eternity on January 11, 2023, at the Maine Veterans Home in Bangor after a long battle with dementia. Craig was born December 28, 1948, the sixth child of Woodrow and Fern (Strout) Archer. He spent many of his formative years hunting and fishing with family, blueberry raking at his grandparents farm, and working for his father at his lumber mill in Stetson. A member of the final graduating class from East Corinth Academy in 1967, he enlisted in the Army in 1968 and was trained in radar repair. He served in Vietnam in the 1st Cavalry Division, during which time he was awarded the Air Medal for flying 25 or more helicopter missions and the Bronze Star. He was honorably discharged in 1971 and returned home to marry his high school sweetheart. His passion for all things wood led him to design three homes, building two of them himself. He started working at the mill at the age of 13 and continued until 1975. After a brief career with the U.S. Postal Service, he returned to his roots in the forest industry selling equipment, supplies and sometimes entire lumber mills. He rounded out his working years as a messenger and driver for the Loomis Company. Always an active member in his community, he served in many town positions. He started attending church at an early age and, with his wife, passed along a love for the Lord to his daughters and grandchildren. He served for a time as deacon at both First Baptist Church in Stetson and Hermon Baptist Church in Hermon. He relished time spent with family, especially his four grandchildren, as he never lost his ability to play and tease. Trips to camp downeast were some of his favorites, calling it his 'little piece of heaven.' He is survived by his wife of 51 years Donna, and his daughters Stephanie (Michael) Laplant and Suzanna (Michael) Cravin, four grandchildren, Zachary Laplant, Brooke Laplant, Leah Cravin and Levi Cravin, and his sisters Kay Underhill, Lorraine (John) Thibodeau, and Theresa (Clyde) Gray. He was predeceased by his parents, and siblings Jacquelyn Tardiff, Reginald (Diana) Archer and Carol (Richard) Laplant."
