[59384] Ronald's obituary: "Ronald Jerome Page, 77 of Cornville, Maine passed away on November 2, 2021 surrounded by his beloved wife and daughters. Ron, as he was known to everyone, was born in Waterville, Maine on August 27, 1944, the son of Maude Hayden (Adams) and Harold Hayden. He, along with his two brothers and a sister, was raised in Athens, Maine where he attended school at Somerset Academy. He then joined the US Army in 1961 where he served his country honorably for the next three years. After the Army, Ron worked in the local shoe shop for several years, as well as running his own Taxi service. In 1985, Ron found his home within the MSAD #59 school district in Madison where he would spend the next 27 years until his retirement in 2012. From driving bus, to fixing desks, to setting up sound systems and preparing for assemblies, "Mr. Page" as he was always fondly referred to, would do anything and everything needed to ensure the Junior High School was in tip top shape every single day. He truly was the 'Go to Man' for the staff and students, not only at the junior high but throughout the entire district. Ron was a big NASCAR fan and an even bigger fan of local stock car racing. For many years, he would spend every Saturday night at Unity Raceway, always in the top row and always with pen in hand, keeping track of finishes for each race and calculating the drivers points. He knew where every driver stood within their division before the track did. Besides racing, he also cheered for the Boston Red Sox during baseball season and the Miami Dolphins during football season. At home, he enjoyed playing darts, cribbage and would never pass up a rousing game of horseshoes when challenged. Ron's true legacy though lies in his sense of Patriotism. He was a 43 year member of the American Legion Post #39 of Madison where he served as Commander for 8 terms as well as being a member of the Sons of the American Legion. He was District Commander for 2 terms and served on the Americanism Committee at the State level for several years. No one was more passionate or dedicated to sharing and teaching Americanism to the community than he. He loved speaking about our veterans, about the ways to honor them and how best to show our own sense of loyalty to our country. He was awarded the title of Legionnaire of the Year in 2000 for his continued dedication and support of our veterans. Lastly, and certainly not least, Ron was a family man. He loved his wife and children unconditionally and would do absolutely anything he could to support them. From baseball, to basketball, to cheering, to dance recitals and concerts, to building hope chests and bookshelves and kitchen cabinets, he always made sure his children knew how much he loved them. His love and handiwork will live on forever in their hearts and homes. Ron was predeceased by his father and mother, Harold and Maude Hayden of Cornville, his brother John Page of Sanford and his great granddaughter Aniyah Libby of Madison. He is survived by his wife Lois Page of Cornville, his brother Gerald Page and his wife Janice of Rochester, NH, his sister Marie Savage of Lakewood, his daughter Stefanie Mercier of Waterville, his son Troy Page of Lakeland, FL, his daughter Dulcie Horkavy and her husband Carl of Benton, his daughter Tiara Nile and her husband Tony of New Vineyard, his daughter Sharelyn Parker and her husband Jim of Benton and his daughter Dena Libby and her husband Rick of Madison. He has 12 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews. The family would like to say a special thank you to the nurses and staff at Redington Fairview General Hospital, especially Jessica Vaillancourt, for your care and kindness during Ron's final days. We would also like to say Thank you to Jamie Boutin of MaineGeneral Medical Center for the time you spent with Ron at his house for Palliative care services. He always spoke so highly of you and enjoyed your visits very much!"
