See "The Visitation of Essex, 1634", Publications of the Harleian Society, Vol. 13, Part 1, 1878, pp. 354-55. The Visitation lists eight children of William and Margaret: William, Robert, John, Richard, James, Dorathey, Elizabeth and Margery.} William Bourne is "of Bobbingworth," co. Essex.
"The Bourne Genealogy," Helen Bourne Joy Lee (Chester, CT: Pequot Press, 1972) wrongly asserts "Master" William Bourne was appointed Canon of St. Paul's Church, London, 13-Aug-1553, and was also Bishop of Bath. Diocesan records of Bath do not list a William Bourne as Bishop in the sixteenth century, but list a Gilbert Bourne (son of Philip Bourne of Worcestershire) as Bishop from 1554 to 1560 (see British Dictionary of National Biography) - he is said to be the last Roman Catholic Bishop of Bath and prior to this was indeed a prebendary of St. Paul's in London. In 2003 the unverified Web site at http://www.uftree.com/UFT/WebPages/SusanThompson/HOWLAND/d0/i0005809.htm#i5809 gives his birth as 1527 at Bobbingworth, Essex, and his death as 29 April 1591.
The official record of Bishop Gilbert Bourne: "Congé d'élire 13 March 1554 (C.P.R. 1553-4 p. 6; Cal. Wells 11 277). Royal assent to el. 28 March (C.P.R. 1553-4 p. 7). Cons. 1 Apr. by bps. of London, Winchester and Durham (Canterbury cath. libr., Reg. N f. 38). Temps. 20 Apr. (C.P.R. 1553-4 p. 8). Papal conf. 6 July (Hierarchia Catholica, ed. C. Eubel and others (Münster, 1913-68) 111 130). Depriv. 18 Oct. 1559/11 Jan. 1560 (Foedera, ed. T. Rymer (The Hague, 1735-45) vi iv 86; Cal. Wells 11 281-2)." - From: British History Online; Source: Bishops. Fasti Ecclesiae Anglicanae 1541-1857: volume 5, Joyce M. Horn & Derrick Sherwin Bailey (1979). URL: http://www.british-history.ac.uk/report.asp?compid=34467- Date: 23/02/2005. © Copyright 2003-2005 University of London & History of Parliament Trust. Clergy records of the Church of England report Bishop Bourne served a Prebendary of St. Paul's Cathedral for Brownswood (7 Nov 1548-26 April1561) and briefly in 1548 for Weldland, then was Rector at High Ongar (6 March 1550-25 April 1554) and Vicar at Arlingham (25 April 1550+), and finally Bishop of Bath & Wells (from 29 Jan 1560)

[60885] "The Bangor Daily News [Bangor, Maine]," 14 November 2025: "Bucksport, Maine - Welman C. McFarland passed away peacefully on November 9, 2025, at the age of 96, surrounded by loving family members. He was born September 13, 1929, to Frank McFarland and Goldie Heath. He grew up on the dairy farm on the River Road in the loving care of his grandparents, Frankie 'Ma' Heath and Charlie 'Pa' Heath. He graduated from Bucksport High School where he played sports, and he lettered in basketball. He first met his wife, Natalie Anderson, at a Grange teen night. He later gave her a ride and won a .50 cent bet from his uncle Lawrence, that he could get her to go on a date. She fell for his good looks and his red hair. They recently celebrated 76 years of marriage. He left a legacy of things built with his hands. With the mind of an entrepreneur he bought and renovated houses before flipping houses was popular. He built the home they shared as well as the shop at 71 Main Street to house The Fashion Shop making a reluctant businesswoman out of Natalie. He retired from the paper mill in 1988. Welman and Natalie spent their retirement years traveling this country and abroad with numerous wonderful friends. Family was everything to Welman. He raised two daughters, Jean and Gwen; and doted on his three grandsons, Andrew, Daniel and Sean. When he met his first great-grand son, Warren, this fall, he was filled with pride that his family had grown to four generations. His family will embrace many memories . . . trips in the car singing to pass the time, going on picnics in open fields, camping vacations, family trips, waltzing and polka, the boys and papa in the workshop building 'things' out of wood, playing baseball on the lawn, flying kites into trees and Styrofoam airplanes that always crashed and needed mending, riding lawn mowers around the yard and occasionally into trees, burn piles/bonfires after cutting down trees, yearly trips to the Shrine circus where the grandsons enjoyed watching Papa make cotton candy (and getting a few free samples), many games of cribbage, and so many more. He served the Elm Street Congregational Church as a Deacon, the Bucksport School System on the school board, the Bucksport Fire Department as a volunteer, and on the Bucksport Town Council. He was the chairman on the board of the Seaboard Federal Credit Union for several years. He was a 50+ year member of the Masonic order and a Noble in the Anah Shrine, serving as both a mini-biker and an aide. He was also a member of the Royal Order of the Jesters, Court 150. Welman lived his life with generosity, kindness, and strength. He was quick with a smile, a laugh, and a hug. Besides his wife, daughters, grandsons, and great-grandson, he is survived by his sisters, Sylvia Mooney and Estelle Bowden; and many nieces and nephews."
