He was born April 3, 1938, in Lamoine the son of Merle and Callie (Bowden) Gray. Merle served in the U.S. Army in France. After returning to Maine, he ran Grays Exxon in Bar Harbor, and then managed the Texaco Station after that. He worked for MacQuinn Construction for 22 years, and worked for 10 years for Peasley Construction. Merle loved to fish, play solitaire, watch the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots. He loved his children and made the 'Best' molasses cookies and biscuits ever. Merle is survived by his significant other, Anne Wells of Hancock; daughters, Rhonda Kelley and husband, Jeffrey, of Ellsworth, Lisa Hallett and husband, Kevin, of Trenton, Amber Gray of Ellsworth, Denise Carrow of Waterville, Sonda Hamilton of Texas; a son, Bruce Gray and wife, Marina, of Florida; stepdaughter, Cammy Edgecomb of Mariaville; grandchildren, John, Jock, Joshua, Misty, Alyssa, Derek, Nick, Dylan, Kevin, Matthew; great-grandchildren, Gavin and Benjamin; step-grandchildren, Ryan, Sheena, and Tiffany; brothers, Earle Gray, Dana Gray; sisters, Debbie and Rosemary. He was predeceased by wives, Pauline and Carlene; a daughter, Lorraine; granddaughter, Felisha; brother, Eugene; sisters, Ada and Norma."
