[60884] "The Bangor Daily News [Bangor, Maine]," 14 November 2025: "Bucksport, Maine - Welman C. McFarland passed away peacefully on November 9, 2025, at the age of 96, surrounded by loving family members. He was born September 13, 1929, to Frank McFarland and Goldie Heath. He grew up on the dairy farm on the River Road in the loving care of his grandparents, Frankie 'Ma' Heath and Charlie 'Pa' Heath. He graduated from Bucksport High School where he played sports, and he lettered in basketball. He first met his wife, Natalie Anderson, at a Grange teen night. He later gave her a ride and won a .50 cent bet from his uncle Lawrence, that he could get her to go on a date. She fell for his good looks and his red hair. They recently celebrated 76 years of marriage. He left a legacy of things built with his hands. With the mind of an entrepreneur he bought and renovated houses before flipping houses was popular. He built the home they shared as well as the shop at 71 Main Street to house The Fashion Shop making a reluctant businesswoman out of Natalie. He retired from the paper mill in 1988. Welman and Natalie spent their retirement years traveling this country and abroad with numerous wonderful friends. Family was everything to Welman. He raised two daughters, Jean and Gwen; and doted on his three grandsons, Andrew, Daniel and Sean. When he met his first great-grand son, Warren, this fall, he was filled with pride that his family had grown to four generations. His family will embrace many memories . . . trips in the car singing to pass the time, going on picnics in open fields, camping vacations, family trips, waltzing and polka, the boys and papa in the workshop building 'things' out of wood, playing baseball on the lawn, flying kites into trees and Styrofoam airplanes that always crashed and needed mending, riding lawn mowers around the yard and occasionally into trees, burn piles/bonfires after cutting down trees, yearly trips to the Shrine circus where the grandsons enjoyed watching Papa make cotton candy (and getting a few free samples), many games of cribbage, and so many more. He served the Elm Street Congregational Church as a Deacon, the Bucksport School System on the school board, the Bucksport Fire Department as a volunteer, and on the Bucksport Town Council. He was the chairman on the board of the Seaboard Federal Credit Union for several years. He was a 50+ year member of the Masonic order and a Noble in the Anah Shrine, serving as both a mini-biker and an aide. He was also a member of the Royal Order of the Jesters, Court 150. Welman lived his life with generosity, kindness, and strength. He was quick with a smile, a laugh, and a hug. Besides his wife, daughters, grandsons, and great-grandson, he is survived by his sisters, Sylvia Mooney and Estelle Bowden; and many nieces and nephews."

[20247] Betsy m. Alexander Martin.
[13596] "The Jeffersonian-Democrat [Brooksville, PA], 31 January 1924," p. 4: "Sarah (Shaffer), wife of Elias Geist, died at her home in Ringgold township at 10 o'clock last Friday morning of pneumonia, having been ill for seven days. Mrs. Geist was 61 years, 11 months and 2 days old, having been born in Ringgold township on February 23, 1862. She was a daughter of George and Anna Shaffer. In 1878 she was married at Worthville to Mr. Geist, a resident of that place, and they always have lived in that vicinity. Mr. Geist and seven children survive the wife and mother; the children are Charles, of Ringgold; Victor, of Sprankle Mills; Frank, at home; Mrs. Minnie Doverspike, of Frostburg; Mrs. Maggie Alcorn, of Ringgold; Mrs. Anna McKee, of Green Valley, and Mrs. May Wolfe, of Sprankle Mills. One child preceded Mrs. Geist in death. Brothers and sisters surviving Mrs. Geist include the following: Abraham, Asa, Jackson and Herbert Shaffer, all of Worthville; Calvin, of Frostburg; Mrs. Calvin Martz, of Sprankle Mills; Mrs. James Fike, Coolspring; Mrs. David Mottern and Mrs. Carton Richard, Worthville, and Mrs. George Michael, Ringgold. For thirty-five years Mrs. Geist had been a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church. Her funeral services were conducted on Monday at the Worthville Evangelical Church by Rev. T. O. Fuss, with interment in Worthville Cemetery. Six of her grandsons were pallbearers Carl, Jay, Paul and Ralph Doverspike and Vernon and Roy Alcorn." The LDS Church's unverified IGI file reports that Sarah is daughter of George Shaffer (b. 12 July 1842; r. Worthville per 1900 census, d. 1 March 1907) and Catherine Emhoff (1840-1910).

[20820] Sir Edward m. Elizabeth Arundel (d. 20 Feb 1514 at St. Donat's Castle) - a line of descent from them appears in July, 2001 at: http://people.ne.mediaone.net/lsimms/edward.html. Find A Grave memorial 101359625 offers: "In his youth Edward was initially committed to the custody of Sir James Tyrell, steward of Glamorgan, but after 1485 he finished his minority in the care of his step-father Sir Rhys ap Thomas, K.G. He was knighted 'under the banner of Henry VIII' at Tournai Cathedral on September 25, 1513. In addition to his chief residence at Saint Donat's, he was lord of Monke Ashe, Merthyr Mawr, Llanffa, and East Orchard, and died testate with a will proved on February 9, 1535/36 [P.C.C. 32 Hogen]. His support of Welsh culture included his patronage of the Glamorgan Cywyddwyr, including Iorwerth Fynglwyd and Lewys Morgannwg."
