[22556] Michael m. Joan de Rokesley (b. ca. 1321 in Poynings, Sussex, England, d. 16 May 1369). http://www21.brinkster.com/leonore/page19.html (not verified) shows him as son of Lord Thomas de Poynings (b. ca. 1300, d.10 Oct 1339 Honnecourt Castle, St. Quintin, Cambridgeshire;1st Baron Poynings, m. ca. 1317 to Agnes de Rokesley, daughter of Richard de Rokesley and Joan de Criol). Cf. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_de_Poynings,_2nd_Baron_Poynings. http://www.tudorplace.com.ar offers: "also known as Miles de Poynings. Like his father, he was a retainer of the Warenne Earls of Surrey, and later of their heirs, the FitzAlan Earls of Arundel. In consideration of the merits of his father, who died in the attack on Honnecourt, Sir Michael was allowed to inherit his estates while still a minor. He accompanied his uncle, another Sir Michael de Poynings on the Crécy-Calais expedition of 1346-47. He was the first of his family to be summoned to Parliament. He made his will in Sep 1368, leaving 200 marks for the rebuilding of the church at Poynings. At the time of his death he held the manors of Poynings, Pangden, Perching, Hangleton, West Dean, Twineham, Waldron, Crawley, and Slaugham (Sussex); Terlingham, Newington, Bertram, Westwood, Eastwell, and Horsmonden (Kent); Wrentham (Suffolk); Wilton (Norfolk); and La Lee and La Gore, by Lavington (Wiltshire). He was guardian of William Bardolf his future son-in-law."
[26037] This line is from One World Tree at Ancestry.com in 2007 and is not verified. The site reports that Jenkin is son of John Fleming (b. ca. 1302 in Pen Lin) and Efar Verch John (b. ca. 1302 in Pen Lin, Ogmore to John Norris [b. ca. 1282 in Pen Lin]). Ancestry.com offers: "Fleming Name Meaning - English: ethnic name for someone from Flanders. In the Middle Ages there was considerable commercial intercourse between England and the Netherlands, particularly in the wool trade, and many Flemish weavers and dyers settled in England. The word reflects a Norman French form of Old French flamenc, from the stem flam- + the Germanic suffix -ing. The surname is also common in south and east Scotland and in Ireland, where it is sometimes found in the Gaelicized form Pléimeann. German: variant of Flemming . . . "
