[20048] Thomas is mentioned in his father's will, 5 June 1822/26 June 1826 - abstracted in Richard Smith, "Will Abstracts, Estates, and Guardianships, Wayne Co., OH 1812-1851," p. 4. "History of Wayne County, OH," Ben Douglass (Wooster, OH: 1874), p. 683: "Thomas Boydston settled in Greene township as early as the spring of 1811. He was born in Green county, Pa., in December, 1786, and married Emily Burress, of Monongalia county, Virginia, the following children resulting from this first marriage: Boaz, Mary, Charles, Belinda, Presley and Enoch. His wife Emily dying May 24, 1824, in East Union township, he was married a second time to Mary Brakefield, of Greene township, who died without issue. A third time he was married to Elizabeth Steel, of East Union township, of which union the following children are living: Solon, Sarah, Emily, Minerva, Eunice. He died in Orrville, August 22, 1863, his wife still surviving him." This "History" (p. 680) states that Thomas was the second settler in Greene Twp., following Michael Thomas, and they were the only settlers in the township for three years; Thomas' land was the northwest corner of section 33 and Michael's was the southwest corner of this section. Thomas is listed as Clerk of the township in 1817. Thomas' son Solon is mentioned further in this history. Boaz is on the 1825 tax list in Wayne Co., OH as a "resident proprietor." "The Boydstun - Boydston Family," Gladys Boydsun Domonoske (3rd edition, 1979)(privately printed: Mrs. A. B. Domonoske, 207 E. 6th St., Davis, CA 95616), p. 68 gives Thomas' year of birth as 1790. Elizabeth is mentioned in her father's will - see (May, 2001): http://www.ameritech.net/users/glhold/Websteel.htm. A Boydston Internet site in 2001 is http://backto60s.tripod.com/famhist/index.html. The federal census 29 July 1850 in East Union Twp., Wayne Co., OH lists a Thomas (farmer, age 63), wife Elizabeth (age 40) and Enoch, (27), Franklin (18), Emily (16), Sarah (13), Minerve [sic] (12), Solon (8) and Eunice (4); on the same sheet as nearby neighbors are two Milbourn families.

The fiction that Alpin fell in a battle [in Galloway] with the Picts, when asserting his right to the Pictish throne, has long been exploded. He was King of Argylshire (831-834). Burkes Peerage (http://www.burkes-peerage.net/sites/scotland/sitepages/page31d.asp) reports; "The Royal House of Scotland arose from the union in 843 of the Kingdom of the Scots, Dalriada, with Caledonia, the Kingdom of the Picts, which later comprised the northern and eastern parts of the country. The Kings of the Picts, ARD RIGH ALBANN, according to their chroniclers, derived from CRUITHNE, King of the Picts (from whose seven yr. sons the original Seven Earls or provincial Kings of Caledonia were deduced) through seventy kings (of whom the 49th, BRUDE MacMAELCON, 565, and NECTAN MacDERILI, 596-617, were converted to Christianity), to the CONSTANTINE MacANGUS, (71st), who was s by, ANGUS II, (72nd) who reigned 821-833, and had issue, 1a EOGHAIN MacANGUS (73rd), of whom presently. 1a Fergusia, m Eocha, of the Royal House of Dalriada, (whose official genealogy declaimed by the Royal Sennachie at the Scottish Coronation, traces their succession from FERGUS MOR MacERC (ca 496), a scion of the Royal House of the High Kings of Ireland), and had issue, 1b ALPIN, who claimed the Pictish throne on Eoghain's death in 839, and was father of, 1c KENNETH MacALPIN, of whom presently as 74th ARD RIGH ALBANN. 2c DONALD I, who s his brother. His son and heir, EOGHAIN MacANGUS (73rd), who d 839, when he was s by his great-nephew, KENNETH I, surnamed MacAlpin, (74th), in whose person the Crowns of Dalriada and Caledonia were united as first King of Scots from 844, and had issue, 1a CONSTANTINE, who s his uncle. 2a AEDH, who s his brother. 1a a dau who m Run, King of Strathclyde, and had issue, 1b EOCHA, who s his uncle. (in both realms tribal Kingship was hereditary in the Royal race but selective as regards the individual, passing primarily to the Tanistair or nominee of the reigning Sovereign), and at his death in 859, he was s by his brother, DONALD I, who reigned from 859 to 863, when he was s by his nephew..."
