"The Ellsworth American [Ellsworth, Maine], 15 January 2013": "Ellsworth - H. Howard Dunn died unexpectedly Jan. 12, 2013, at Maine Coast Memorial Hospital, Ellsworth. He was the oldest of three sons born March 8, 1932, in Ellsworth, to Butler and Marion Young Dunn. He attended Ellsworth High School, where he ran track and cross-country. He then graduated from Washington State Teachers College (University Maine at Machias), where he also was a member of the varsity basketball team. It was there that he met Freda Dodge, his devoted wife of 61 years. They began their teaching careers together in Castine and shortly thereafter moved to Rumford, where they lived for nearly 35 years. Howard began as an elementary school teacher at the Kimball School, Rumford Point and later served in a number of administrative roles including principal and eventually superintendent of the Rumford School Department. During their Rumford years, Howard and Freda raised their family and developed many lifelong friendships. Howard enjoyed sports, hunting, fishing, collecting stamps, and could often be found in a greenhouse, garden or berry patch. Throughout his life, family was unfailingly his highest priority. His loving commitment was evidenced through the 'daily news' e-mails that he sent each night to his children and grandchildren. He was admired for his kindness, generosity, reliability and sense of humor and was considered a true gentleman of the old school.
Howard is survived by his beloved wife, Freda (Dodge) Dunn; his two brothers, George and Dick and their wives, Donna and Peg; his five children, Darrell and wife, Adrianne, of Mariaville, Gerry and wife, Karen, of Skowhegan, Teresa and husband, Gary Giroux, of Columbia, Md., Cindy and husband, Carl Bishop, of Standish, and Kathy Love of New Market, Md., with whom he created many fond memories, particularly of time spent at the family camps on Beech Hill and Howard Ponds. Howard was the proud grandfather of Tyler, Russell, Greg, Chris, Lauren, Matt, Caitlin, Megan and Emily; and one great-granddaughter, Lily. He was also loved and admired by his many nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him."

[56878] Paul is son of Maurice Colby Smith, Jr. (1892-1994) & Adeline Esther Donley (1892-1989; m. 23 June 1915 in ranston, Providence Co., RI).
[43722] Find A Grave memorial 111242059 offers: "The first historical record found for Henry Wachtel and his wife Catherine shows that they were members of the German Lutheran Church in Windsor Township, York County, PA in 1795. Henry and Catherine apparently moved to Augusta County, VA because court records show that in 1796 he took an orphan boy named Ben Boyer to teach him a trade (From original courthouse records Vol 1 p 285 Records from 1745 to 1800). He was living in Hocking County, OH by 1812 where his son Henry was born. The "History of Ashland County" by Hill said that Henry, George and Jacob were the first settlers in Montgomery Township, Richland County, Ohio which is now Ashland County. Henry moved to Richland County in 1814, to Fountain County, Indiana in 1825 and to Putman Township, Fulton County, IL in 1827. (He may have also gone to Wisconsin before settling in Illinois.) He and Catherine had 12 children - 4 boys and 8 girls. At some point he changed the spelling of his last name from Wachtel to Waughtel."
