[53112] "The Bangor Daily News [Bangor, Maine]," 20 April 1955, p. 24: "Stonington, April 19 - Funeral services for Peter Samuel Haskell, 52, who died Sunday, were held Tuesday at the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Deer Isle, with Elder Garfield Billings officiating. Bearers were: Wolcott Hardie, Pvt. Clyde Haskell, and four nephews; Irving Haskell, Milton Haskell. George Haskell and Pfc. Franklin Haskelll. Burial was in the Haskell District Cemetery. Mr. Haskell died at a Castlne hospital after a long illness. He was born in Little Deer Isle, September 16, 1902, the son of Peter and Susan (Cole) Haskell, and attended Deer Isle schools. He married Mamie Eaton, June 19, 1922. Mr. Haskell was a yachtsman most of his life, and in late years, a lobster fisherman. His survivors include his widow; three daughters, Mrs. Wolcott (Annie) Hardie of Stonington, Mrs. George (Violet) Mank of Rockland, and Patricia Haskell, Stonlngton; a son, Pvt. Clyde Haskell of Fort Dix, N. J.; six brothers, Fred of Rockland. Lyman of Waldoboro, and Elmer, Charles, Vernon and Bennie of Deer Isle; two sisters, Mrs. Laura Eaton of Deer Isle and Hazel Haskell of Rockland; seven grandchildren and several nieces and nephews."

Later they owned and operated Goss Insurance Agency. She was a member of the Bangor Women's Club and the Jonathan Hunt Chapter No. 9 OES of Hermon. Surviving are three sons, Thomas O. Goss or Glenbum, Gary L. Goss of York, Leland B. Goss of Greenville, S.C.; a special uncle who was raised as a son, Rodney Higgins of Evansville, Ind.; six grandchildren, Tammi, Kelly, Christy, Benjamin, Rachael, Thomas; two great-grandchildren, Brandon and Brittany. She was predeceased by two brothers, Raymond Higgins and Leland 'Red' Higgins."
