She was born Aug. 3, 1922, in Franklin, the daughter of Lester E. and Effie M. (Campbell) Bunker Sr. She attended Franklin schools and graduated from Franklin High School Class of 1940. Her first job was working as a telephone operator. Marjorie and Queen Joy were the first hot lunch cooks for Franklin Grammar School; they also ran the 'Snack Shack' for the blueberry factory in the summer. Later she worked in the post office in Sorrento helping her sister. She was known for her cooking, especially her doughnuts, and her willingness to help anytime or anywhere she could. She enjoyed deer hunting and ice fishing. Marjorie belonged to the Franklin School Mates and attended the Franklin Methodist Church. She is survived by her daughter Faye Havey and husband, Richard; grandsons Richard 'Dick' Havey and wife, Diane, Wayne Havey and wife, Julie, all of Franklin; great-granddaughters Melissa, Cheryl, Emily and Heather; great-great-grandchildren Mathew and Kylie; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; husband of 64 years, Gerald; grandson Mark; sisters Arlette and Vera; and brothers Manford, Lester Jr., (Jake) and William."

Survivors include a son, Burnice Jr. of Fort Fairfield, 3 daughters, Mrs. Ronald (Gertrude) Boyd and Mrs. Harry (Frances) Lake, both of Mars Hill and Mrs. Edward (Stella) Anderson of Newington, CT., 1 step son, Horace Edgecomb of Limestone, 1 step daughter, Mrs. Margaret Chase of Westfield, 2 brothers, Ossie Burtchell of Blaine, William Burtchell of Mars hill, 3 sisters, Mrs. Mabel Libby of Blaine, Mrs. Elizabeth Winship of Westfield and Mrs. Leila Deyone of Bangor, 20 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, several nieces, nephews and cousins. She died on 22 August 1868, in Tisbury, Dukes, Massachusetts, United States, at the age of 60, and was buried in Mayflower Hill Cemetery, Taunton, Bristol, Massachusetts, United States."

John S, Garlin, a veteran of the Civil War, died at his home in Centre Township, near this place, Sunday evening after a lingering illness, from cancer of the liver, aged 70 years, 10 months, and 28 days. The deceased was the son of the late Peter Garlin, of Little Germany, and was there born and spent his years until late manhood. About tweleve years ago he purchased the property now owned by Amos Sheaffer, ot this place, and later selling the same bought the farm on which he resided intil his death. Mr Garlin was married to Sarah, daughter of John Markel, who survives him. Four children resulted from this union; Mrs. Anna R. Lay, of Barberton, Ohio; Lewis at home; Mrs. Kate Rice, deceased, Carlisle; Levi, of Mechanicsburg. Ther are also five grandchildren. Deceased is survived by the following brothers and sisters; William Garlin, of Carroll township; Abram, of Spring township; Daniel, of this place; Jones, of Penbrook, Pa.; Elijah, of Little Germany; Kate of this place; Mrs. Rebecca Dunkelberger, of Spring township. August 31, 1864, responding to his country's call, he enlisted in Co. E. Capt. F.M. McKeehan, 208th Pennsylvania Volunteers, and served until discharge by general order May 25, 1865. He was a faithful soldier, never shrinking a duty....... ADDED Feb. 23, 2013...He married Sarah Jane Markel in 1861 in Perry County and fathered Anna Rebecca (b. @1862 - married a Lay), Lewis E. (b. @1864), Catherine E. (b. @1868 - married a Rice), and Levi E. (b. @1872). In 1860, he was a laborer living in Spring Township, Perry County, and stood 5' 7" tall with sandy hair and blue eyes. A Civil War veteran, he enlisted and mustered into federal service at Harrisburg August 31, 1864, as a private with Co. E, 208th Pennsylvania Infantry. Twice hospitalized for illness, he received a discharge by surgeon's certificate per general order dated May 25, 1865."
