'Bertam, Willam, Richildam et Gislam' are named (in order) as the four daughters of Boso and Willa by Liutprand. Willa is named 'rex Hugo neptim suam . . . ex Willa uxore sua Boso Tusciæ provinciæ marchio regis frater' by Liutprand when he records her marriage to Berengario. She ordered the imprisonment of Adelheid, widow of her husband's predecessor Lothar [de Provence] King of Italy. She retreated with her husband to the fortress of San Leo in the face of Otto King of Germany's invasion, but was captured and taken to Bamberg with Berengario. 'Regino' records that Willa became a nun after her husband died before he was buried. - m ([930/31]) Berengario II Marchese di Ivrea, son of Adalberto I Conte e Marchese di Ivrea & his first wife Gisela di Friulia ([900]-in prison Bamberg 6 Jul 966). OBITUARY by Malia Rulon on Mar. 21, 1997:
Design was Salzmans true calling
From his studio, Rays Interiors, he embellished many homes and businesses here.
A memorial service will be held April 16 for Ray E. Salzman Jr., a prominent interior decorator in Tucson and a founder of Catalina United Methodist Church and the Arizona Opera Company.
Mr. Salzman, 78, died Sunday of complications after esophagus surgery Feb. 21.
He and his wife, Martha "Marty" Salzman, started an interior design studio in Tucson in 1955 called Rays Interiors. "Always, his love was design. That was his true calling," she said. For 30 years, they ran the studio as Mr. Salzman designed the interiors of many Tucson homes and locales, including the original Old Pueblo Club, the Tucson Medical Center and the youth lounge of the Catalina United Methodist Church. He was the churchs first minister in 1946. The church started in an old barracks building on South Country Club Road before moving to 2700 E. Speedway Blvd. Mr. Salzman served as a minister for a year before he and his wife moved to California so he could continue his theology education at the University of Southern California. He returned to the Chicago area - where he had graduated earlier from Lake Forest College with degrees in English and speech - and tried interior design work at a studio in Evanston. Mr. Salzman learned the business from the ground up, working in the shipping, receiving, upholstery, drapery, slip cover and drapery rod departments. He returned to Tucson in 1950 and worked for two more design studios before opening his own. "He was always decorating something," his wife said.
From 1963 to 1965, Mr. Salzman was president of the Arizona state chapter of the National Society of Interior Designers. He was treasurer for the American Institute of Interior Designers in 1968. Mr. Salzman and his wife helped start the Arizona Opera Company - then called the Tucson Opera Company - in 1972. "A lot of his money and energy went into keeping it alive. That was really a love for him," his wife said. Marty Salzman, once an opera singer, served 12 years on the Tucson Opera board - three as president. The Salzmans hosted the opera companys first fund-raising party in their East Fort Lowell Road in 1973. A Tucson Citizen article about the event described how "Tucsons opera aficionados" turned out for the party. "Stars were there, and strings of lights twinkling in trees and reflecting in the pool in Ray Salzmans beautiful patio on East Fort Lowell Road," the article stated.
Besides his wife, he is survived by daughters, Janet Baron of Vashon, Wash., and JoAnne Briggs of Tucson; and brothers, William and Robert Salzman of Illinois and Joseph Salzman of Tucson.
[60872] The unverified file LVYK-49J in familysearch.org offers: "When Carroll Henry Stanley was born on 3 September 1921, in Medway, Penobscot, Maine, United States, his father, George Henry Stanley, was 37 and his mother, Priscilla Alberta 'Berty' Hopkins, was 28. He married Emma Laura Lee on 16 October 1941, in Medway, Penobscot, Maine, United States. They were the parents of at least 5 sons and 1 daughter. He registered for military service in 1944. He died on 19 May 2012, in Medway, Penobscot, Maine, United States, at the age of 90, and was buried in Medway, Penobscot, Maine, United States." His obituary: "Medway - Carroll H. Stanley, 90, husband of the late Emma Lee Stanley, passed away Saturday, May 19, 2012, at his home with family by his side. He was born Sept. 3, 1921, in Medway, son of the late George and Priscilla A. Hopkins Stanley. Carroll and Emma met growing up in Medway, living on adjoining farms. They took great pride in eventually obtaining ownership of their parents' farms. For Carroll there was no place like the farm. He was his happiest working on the farm with his family by his side. His family believes that today John Deere tractors must be rolling in heaven. Carroll served in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1944 to 1946. He was employed at Great Northern Paper Co., East Millinocket, for 43 years. In 2011 he was honored as the Oldest Male Citizen in Medway. He is survived by his children, Carole and her husband, Robert Pelkey, Paulette Lakeman, Sherry and her husband, Merle McLaughlin, Michael and his wife, Marlene, James and his wife, Kathy, Thomas and his wife, Lillian, Frederick, Joel and his wife, Laurie, Greg and his wife, Karen, all of Medway, and Cindy and her husband, David Plourde, of West Enfield; and a special daughter-in-law, Linda Stanley Theriault of Medway. He was a beloved husband, grandfather and great-grandfather to 27 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren. Carroll is also survived by a brother, Alton 'Tashie' of East Millinocket; sisters, Clara Cox and Norma Kimball of Medway; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, George and Priscilla; wife, Emma; his sons, Carroll and Jeffery; his sister, Beatrice; and brothers, Earl, George Emery, Otho, Leon, John, George Edward and Eugene."

[1259] "Colonial Families of Martha's Vineyard," Charles Edward Banks (Baltimore: Gen. Pub. Co., 1999 reprint), p. 30, states "He m. (1) Elizabeth (_____) and (2) Mrs. Mary (Tilden) Lapham (wid. of Thomas), who was bapt. 20 May 1610 at Tenterden, co. Kent, the dau. of Nathaniel Tilden." A footnote on "Gen. Notes of Barnstable Families" reports "His wife Mary presented the inventory of his estate, May 12, 1667, and took the oath required. The names Mary and Elizabeth were formerly considered synonymous, and it may be that Mary was not his second wife." The text states "His wife was named Elizabeth and it is stated by Judge Mitchell that she was probably a Tilden." The proposed Tilden ancestry is given in this database. However, "The Great Migration Begins: Immigrants to New England, 1620-1633" states William Bassett m. "(1) By 1623 (and probably by 1621) Elizabeth _____, probably also a passenger on the Fortune in 1621; she appears in no record after 1627, and may have died soon after the birth of the last child about 1634, or she may have lived until just before William Bassett married his second wife. (2) After 1651, and before 12 December 1664 Mary (Tilden) Lapham, daughter of Nathaniel Tilden, widow of Thomas Lapham; she was living at Bridgewater as late as 28 March 1690."
