She was born August 11, 1939, in Otis, ME, the daughter of Carlton and Florence (Willey) Salisbury. Vera moved to Massachusetts when she was 18. While there she had her two children, Randy and Lisa. At one time she lived in a three-story building which she shared with her brother Emery and sister Alice. One of her favorite things was spending her summers tenting at Robbins Pond in Bridgewater, MA. All except for the thunderstorms. She never outgrew her fear of storms. No matter what time they happened she would call her sister Alice and say 'Are you coming to get me in the bus?' They all would sit in the blueberry field along with her granddaughter, Emily, until she felt safe to go home. Vera loved to cook and her specialty was her donuts and banana bread. Vera loved to use them to barter for work when she would need help around home. She was a huge fan of racing and her biggest love was Jeff Gordon. So much her Christmas tree was all decked out with the 24 number. Her second love was the Boston Red Sox. She was very surprised on her 70th birthday when she received tickets to a game at Fenway against the Yankees. She was overjoyed when they won 22-10. Vera was employed at Acadia Inn and other hotels in Bar Harbor for many years and loved meeting all the guests for morning coffee. Her family moved back to Otis in 1975, where she met the love of her life, Ron Judware, and were eventually married. She lost Ron in 1995. Vera loved going on the bus with her mother to all of her son's wrestling events. She never missed a school event or any of the first days of school for her grandchildren. She was always there no matter what and nothing would stop her. Her grandchildren were the highlight of her life. Vera always had her annual summer trips with her grandchildren to Santa's Village. Beech Hill Pond always held a special place in her heart and it was a place she always called home. Vera is survived by her children, Randy Spencer and fiancée, Maria Holman, of Otis; her daughter, Lisa Spencer of Bangor; her siblings, Leverett Salisbury and wife, Alice, of Ellsworth, and sister, Alice Herrick and husband, Eddie, of Otis; her grandchildren, Crystal and husband, Davy Cunningham, Carrie Peirce and fiancée, Meghan King, Randy Spencer and fiancée, Meaghan Tabbi, Cory Spencer, Breana Peirce and fiancé, Tom Cain, Brittany Peirce, and Danielle Spencer; great-grandchildren, Emily, Lillian, John, Wyatt, Sammy, Devyn, Charli-Mae, Kaysen, Aubry, and Hayden. She also had a special relationship with her son-in-law, Brian Peirce; and nephew, Edwin Kidder. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her brothers, Lawrence and Emery Salisbury of Otis; her sisters, Corice Amazeen of Garland and Arleeta Kidder of Hancock; her grandson, Cory Spencer; and husband, Ronald Judware. The family would like to give a special thank you to Ross Manor where she resided for the last two and half years where they took great care of her."
