He worked as a lobster fisherman for many years. James was a great carpenter and boat builder, he worked for Harold MacQuin and helped build the Duck Brook Bridge. James also enjoyed gardening and hunting. He was one of the original 6 stockholders of the Rock Crossing Lodge. He is survived by his son, Gary W. Stanley and wife, Kathy of Lamoine and his daughter, Gail and her husband, Carroll Leland of Town Hill. Grandchildren; Tyler W. Stanley and Maggie Stanley, both of Portland, Emma Stanley of Lamoine, Christopher T. Leland and David J. Leland and wife, Missy, all of Trenton and Mary A. Leland of Town Hill. James was predeceased by his wife of 57 years, Alfreda (Strout) Stanley in 2004 and an infant daughter, Mary Helen."
